Ivy league colleges: what's the difference with public state universities?

However ... the Ivies dicked around with the need-based part. If you were a top academic recruit, they might remove the loans and make the financial aid outright grants instead. Maybe things have changed, but that was the deal then.

Got a buddy whose son is at Princeton and that sounds about right. His responsibility amounts to just about what he'd pay if his son was going to the flagship state school.

yeah, sadly the only downside is if you can afford it, your responsibility is then the full cost... ouch. Hard to justify turning down a Michigan or Cal for that.

/either way I found it ironic that this thead was bumped up after a 3 month break from bigsoccer while I was dealing with getting into med school...
