    Sirs et Mesdames:

The New Jersey hack, Ives Galacep, presents his all-star starters.

See if you can discover what makes my wig tingle with delight...here it is:

    • GK -- Matt Reis, New England
    • D -- Gonzalo Segares, Chicago
    • D -- Michael Parkhurst, New England
    • D -- Marvell Wynne, Toronto FC
    • M -- David Beckham, Los Angeles
    • M -- Sacha Kljestan, Chivas USA
    • M -- Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Chicago
    • M -- Shalrie Joseph, New England
    • M -- Robbie Rogers, Columbus
    • F -- Landon Donovan, Los Angeles
    • F -- Kenny Cooper, FC Dallas
    Did you spot it?

Hurray! There are no United players on his roster!

    May it remain so!

    Why?

Simply that with all the congestion in the United schedule, I believe that United needs its players to have all possible available rest. Between the travel and the circus of the event, I am overjoyed by the prospect of a United absence from the All-Star game.

Now, I realize that this is not what will happen. Some United players will make the roster and the trip. I simply wish that it were not so.

    There it is.

Emilio will just have to settle for a second straight MVP award. :D

Does Garber get any Commissioner Picks?...he might throw in Lucy or Gallardo for kicks and giggles.

This is a double dipper on happiness. There are no Pink Cows on the roster either. That makes me happy for a whole other reason.... :D

Yeah I'd be happy if none of our guys have to make the trip, but seriously, how do you pick Cooper over Emilio, or Wynne over Martinez?

I have a feeling Emilio and Martinez will make the roster. I could see Garber putting Gallardo out there as well.

I much rather the whole team win an MLS Cup than Emilio take another MVP award.

I gave my opinion on this to Ives a few days ago, when he asked whether DC fans "would be able to get enough votes in to get Emilio into the lineup." I told him that some DC fans would rather him not go.

In fact, I think the most important votes to cast at this point are votes for Houston players.

We'd still only wear 4 stars, but wear the scudetto. The 5th star would come in 2010.

Is that new? We didn't do that in 2005. There was a delay in getting jerseys with four stars integral, resulting in those awful stick-on things for a while; but true four-star jerseys came before 2005 was out. And I don't remember a shield before that.

honestly, i think he's right. no dc united player has put together the kind of season that warrants automatic selection. emilio has been great but streaky.

but honestly, who gives a damn? i'd rather our players be fresh and healthy than play in some glorified friendly.

The Scudetto came to the league with Adidas, before that Stars were optional. Now, with the Scudetto, you wait a year for your new star.

Yeah, its new, just take a look at Houston's jersey this year and last year, big shield on the right chest, has the MLS Cup trophy over an american flag style field.

United plays their rescheduled game with Houston two days before the All-Star game.

Seeing as this was an unusual circumstance, I don't see any players from Houston or DC who should play in that game.

Besides, if either one of those teams advances out of group play for SuperLiga, arent's the semi-finals on that Saturday the 26th?

There is no way that either DC or Houston will release players for a meaningless all-star game.

My point was that when DC United won the MLS Cup none of their players was MVP the year they won (1996, 1997, 1999 & 2004) AND DC United players were MVP when DC United failed to win MLS Cup (1998, 2006, 2007).

    ¿Capiche?

    As would I.

I'd be happy knowing that we tried really hard.

You can't ask for more than that.

Again, I'm glad that our guys more than likely won't be playing. We've got a stacked enough schedule as it is. They deserve every day of rest they can get.
