Not only have I ordered 5 tickets for the home opener but along with me Im bringing 2 guys that are sports fanatics BUT that havent yet gotten into soccer but do like it, just havent been taken to a game, until now. I expect them to enjoy themselves and want to go back for more. Lets hope for an exciting game. Another person that is going is a person that I got hooked on MLS last year.

When you look at it from the aspect of grabbing new fans its so important that the games arent boring duds. At each game there must be hundreds of first timers and if the game is exciting they will be back, if its a 0-0 snoozer you can forget about it.

I will probably do the same but not early in the season as right now our roster does not look very exciting when I view the midfielders on this team. I don't know if we could score more than one goal as currrently formed. I will wait until midseason until I bring any potential new soccer fans. Hopefully we have some decent FAs by then playing midfield or we find someone somewhere.

If I see Roy Myers being tried out again I know we will be in for a long season.

Once we get two mids who can play with this current group we should be fine. Right now I am not optimistic. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for our finding the right players to help this team.

You bring up a good point - I agree that fans will be back if the game they see is exciting and holds their interest, but a 0-0 draw isn't necessarily a bad thing - what if you see some of the most amazing saves by the keepers, stalwart defending, and near misses or hit posts? What about teaching the new fans ABOUT the actual game being played, such as important rules like offsides, fouls in the box, and player positions. Once the casual fan knows more about what is going on down on the pitch, they will be more likely to move the sport as a good time - not just "a bunch of guys chasing a ball around a field". :)

Yeah good point, but when it comes down to it people wanna see scoring. Especially people who are new to the game.

does anyone know if there is going to be some sort of exclusive thing in any way at the season opener?

im not a season ticket holder, because my dad(im 16) doesnt wanna take me to every game, and i live in Brooklyn, i could take trains but i'de get lost, anyway, me and my father plan on going to one of the first games, im a Rapids fan, so maybe the 3rd home game would be good. but the 2nd is LA, that should be fun to watch.

1st is the season opener, besides Columbus being Open Cup Champs, is anything special going to take place on April 12th at Giants stadium??

Why would you get lost taking the train? Come to the Port Authority and take the bus with all the rest of the fans. It's fun!

Bring 'em on over to the pregame tailgate party, et them drunk of their a$$es, and it really won't matter what the score is. How do you think so many of us have tollerated the God awful soccer we have seen for the past 8(?) years?

Say i wanna go to the home game against The Rapids and i take the bus with all the Metrofans while wearing my Rapids jersey, whats gonna wind up happening to me?

i'm a huge metro supporter, but my sister told me to choose an MLS jersey, and i thought that the old Metros jersey were horrible, and since im a Rapids, i chose the rapids jersey.

i'm also a Chung and Carrieri fan

Well, son it's nothing that a doctor wouldn't put up there when you're 50 and have to go for one of those exams, that's one possibility -or depending on how much you cheer for Colorado, you may get an all expense paid tour of Spanish Harlem - all by yourself when your thrown off the bus by MetroHooligans. Enjoy.

Believe me, they're not going to do anything to you. They're a bunch of windbags. (Take it from someone who's on several hit lists)

    :)

    P.S. Chung's terrific.

Hello, my name is Paul Gardner. I am a respected soccer journalist. Unfortunatelly, my *cough* love for a certain type of soccer player has put me on several team's hit list, especially the MetroStars.

riverplate, you sound like a cool guy. You are hispanic, right? Would you like to get together for a "cerveza" sometime soon?

P.S. Chung's terrific. His glistening yellow skin... Do I need to go on?

Who's hit lists are you on?

How do you type the nonsense that passes as your posts and nail yourself to your cross at the same time?

Have you ever been to a Metro game? Or is that the time when you usually deliver pizzas? Feel free to stop by Lot 16A and let the rest of the world in on the secret of your Football Knowldege. snicker.

PS Gladiator- People will probably just point and laugh at you saying "Hey why is that fat kid wearing a green bicyle jersey?" And "Isn't that the teenager who doesn't like Black Strikers from South Africa?"

    First off, your a retard.
Secondly, you just made fun of all metrofans by inplying none of then wiould know the Rapids jersey when they see it.
Third, your probably a hell of alot fatter than i am considering the fact that all you do all day is come to a message board and make fun of people you know nothing about, sitting in a chair all day and eating your microwave dinners must take a toll on your stomach. (no offense to the overweight)
Fourth, why would you even bring up the comment SWEEPER made about Blacks? how do you still remember pointless and useless $HlT like that? its pathetic

No dimwit- we are just making fun of you. And shocking, I know most of the people on the Metro board. Can't wait to meet you though.

As long as you continue to post here, I will remind you of your moronic racist comments. Sweeper had nothing to do with it.

Gladiator, its funny, my beef with you was up. I figured your racist remark was an isolated mistake; but after accusing me of being a racist, you're going to be counting teeth if I ever see your little pimple faced ass.
