WASHINGTON D.C. (AP) - Noted soccer coach OTC refused to rule out that he was planning any return to the coaching ranks Friday in a wide ranging interview with the Associated Press. "I've got no plans right now to return to coaching," he said. "That of course doesn't preclude any future opportunities." Recent speculation has again linked the well-traveled cone to struggling D.C. United, where Ray Hudson was chosen over him to coach the team a year and a half ago. For a second straight season, the team has struggled at the start, producing only one goal at famed RFK stadium. When asked if he had any suggestions, OTC was reluctant to offer any advice. "It's not my team, I'm reluctant to offer any advice," he said. "But if I were in charge, I'd fire Dave Kasper first. Then I would trade for Brian Kamler. That boy's got talent." OTC said he plans to help U.S. coach Bruce Arena prepare his squad for the Confederations Cup in the meantime. "OTC is an invaluable, informal member of my staff," Arena said. "I literally can't hold a practice without him." When asked if he had any advice for fans clamoring for him to take over United, OTC would only say, cryptically, "Watch the skies. It's happened before."
I'm a little worried about the tape...is that a hamstring problem? He wasn't the fleetest of foot to begin with.
Now here is an opportunity to salvage our pathetic tagline. I am sure someone can come up with something clever related to our beloved OTC that we can put in to replace the Italian saying, that relates to United how??
Well, he looks well rested and on top of his game. If he's advising Arena, there's a good chance he'll be in the area for the Nat's/NZ match.
