The team needs a defense and JK hasn't addressed it. That's the problem. Not the fact that Adu hasn't been called in.

With that roster of players there is no reason Honduras should have had that many chances on our net. They are much improved from last cycle but not THAT much.

Are you kidding me, the team needs a new teem. the defense was bad I'll give you that, but the rest of our Euro trash sucked, just as it has for long time now. Our best player plays in MLS and is currently sitting at home on a sabbatical doing god knows what.

A better defense...one that has been tested in friendlies and settled into their roles and knows each other...that defense doesn't allow 2 goals in Honduras. Thus we escape with 1 point minimum which is par for the course and we're looking very good right now.

The Dempsey goal should have been enough. Heck, we should have been able to post a shutout with the quality of defenders our pool has to offer. The problem is that the defense hasn't been addressed by our coach...thus we looked all out of sorts and allowed all kinds of chances to Honduras. A better defense builds the foundation for a better offense.

one goal is not terrible, but one goal on 2 or 3 serious threats on goal is VERY bad against a team like Honduras. Freddy, LD, Dempsey, Bradley combo is the only thing that really can do the job and tear teams apart.

    Maybe.

But it doesn't matter if you're tearing other teams apart when they are doing the same thing to you.

Focus on the midfield's crapfest. Therein lies the problem.

they didn't "tear us apart". they scored one brilliant goal, and in total took advantage of 2 breakdowns. they were just able to control the game because we had no one that could hold the ball, take players on, or be dangerous (without a perfect service or being sprung through kind of dangerous that eddie j and altidore don't provide.)

They had TONS of chances and better finishes would have shown that. You're right about one thing though. The defense couldn't hold onto the ball or do anything with it. They turned it over repeatedly in bad spots on the field and their passes were way off the mark when they weren't punting the ball all the way up the field.

The lack of hustle on defense was abysmal. Jones and Chandler gave sooooooo much space to their marks (when they weren't being made look foolish) and Gonzo and Cameron played like two guys that have never played next to each other before...because...they haven't. And that is a HUGE coaching failure.

The bike was an awesome goal and impossible to stop. But watch the tape again. Why does Honduras have a hour to set up the cross that led to that great goal? Answer: ZERO pressure on the cross.

Defense is a problem. A HUGE one.

    Just. Disappointing. All around.

How about, regardless of whether offense or defense was the bigger problem, we try to get better in both areas?

Adu deserved a call up for camp cupcake. Is anyone really going to sit here and say that Brad Evans is a better option at the CAM than Freddy Adu? Dempsey is the only somewhat creative player we have in the attack. This is a huge problem. This is why we create so few chances.

So Freddy Adu doesn't have a club team - yet,he should start for the US National team.

Is there another player whose country is in the midst of qualifying for Brazil 2014 that starts for his national team and doesn't have a club contract?

It's so easy for a hater to throw that out there like we wasn't calling up Bradley when he was riding the bench at AV. The bottom line is he has the ability to help the Nats. Simple as that.

This. Adu fans are overzealous but a lot of you folks have selective memories.

Walk me through how he helps the USMNT - but, can't help any other club in the world?

During the Hex last time Jozy was at Xerez on loan, where I don't think he ever made the 18. Yet there he was for the USMNT starting and scoring a hat-trick against Trinidad and Tobago.

At least he had a club. Freddy has no club, right? Same with MB. At least he had a club.

Who says he can't help out any club in the world? That is the most illogical question your punitive brain has asked me yet.
