Any advice? I am convinced that my consummate professionalism will get me through it, but something tells me they will be looking for "special" stuff out there. I am fit, but am I ready. Perhaps waxing philospohically in the wind...all we are is dust in the wind in the soccer complex.
For what it's worth, I would encourage you to be well rested for the match. Get a good night's sleep and don't do any other game before that one. Why? Concentration. I think you will need every bit of concentration to be able to read the game and make the best decisions to control the match. If you are distracted by fatigue or some other event off the pitch, you may miss that critical moment of truth. Sounds like you have a great attitude towards the game. Best of luck with the match and have fun on the pitch.
Thanks. I will be good and fresh, but you never really know what can happen. My goals: 1. 8-18 yards from play at all times 2. Always with the relevant AR in view 3. Voice, whistle, yellow, red, unless absolutely necessary to change the order 4. Smile once per minute of play, or more 5. Dissent deafness 6. Have fun If I get there, the gods will bail me out for shhhuuure. Thanks for the wish... G
#5 is and always has been my weakest game element...I try to remain deaf until it becomes necessary to do something, but I seem to have relatively bad timing in deciding when to deal with it...you are right though...it should be better controlled...
Dissent is much easier to deal with when it first starts, to nip it in the bud. If you wait until the players, coaches get really going, then the composure of both players, coach, and sometimes referee is not as good. Try dealing with it early. Makes life much better.
And I have seen Gwen ref D-I women's and she is in superb control of the game without being the center of attention. Hi Gwen! Jim
