If at all possible, I'd like to keep this thread limited to specifically discussing 2 things :
    a) Is the transfer of Tim Howard from the MLS to Manchester United official?
    b) If a is true, on what date will it occur?

I ask this because according the the London Times, the transfer is official and will take place on July 1.

I have not idea, but they certainly got their facts correct in the article which is more than can be said from many of English articles about soccer in the US that I've read.

Well if that is the day the transfer window opens, I imagine he sign that day. I just wonder how much he will play during the season.

The Times, (called sometimes The London Times in the USA), is extremely reputable - despite the fact that it's owned by mucky Murdoch, the porn-again christian that also owns Fox.

Nice to see you posting again after that spot-on call you made on the Wales vs. U.S.A. friendly. Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

Ryan Giggs, Robbie Savage, John Hartson, Craig Bellamy, Darren Barnard, Steve Roberts and Simon Haworth were out due to injuries,

Play-off finals accounted for a further 7 players missing the match - Robert Page, Nathan Blake, Danny Gabbidon, Robert Earnshaw, Rhys Weston and Steve Jenkins and Lee Fowler from the stand-by group. Mark Crossley (personal reasons) and Danny Coyne did not make the trip.

any result should be taken with a grain of salt....

Would you like a list of key US players who were missing from that match? Here goes:

    Brian McBride
    DaMarcus Beasley
    Tony Sanneh
    Josh Wolff
    John O'Brien
    Brad Friedel
    Gregg Berhalter
    Clint Mathis
    Pablo Mastroeni
    Frankie Hejduk

These are all players who were part of our World Cup team. None of them were at the match against Wales. You might have had your B team, but we had our D team there. And we still dominated the match.

    Quit whining and move on.

good lord, have you looked at the US lineup?

neither side was playing full and the game was meaningless. however tom came on to describe how wales was going to substantially beat the US.

sorry to continue with this hijacking of the thread

But if I remember correctly, the above-referenced prediction re: the U.S. vs. Wales match was made with full knowledge of the actual squad Wales would be starting.

Don't forget Claudio Reyna and Kasey Keller. (Actually Reyna was in camp but was never gonna see action in that game)

take a pill. Wales isnt "my team". I was just pointing out that the match wasnt very meaningful.

btw - Landon Donovan and Reyna both dressed (but Reyna was a sub) - they play on the USA D team?

your Point that the US team were missing alot of regulars as well only proves that the match didnt prove too much

quote- "welcome to the new us soccer dissapointment>>>>"

dude that was hilarious i live in the u.s. and i dont think well ever do anything. i hate the mls and i can only wish that are better players get the hell to europe to play against quality teams. otherwise we as a nation will never do ************.

as for the wales match if you know that both teams were depleted why are you getting so defensive since the u.s. won just accept it. i think if wales had their starters it would've been different.

No point in argueing about things that have been argued about over and over and over in the USA boards and the MLS boards. This is a Man U board, I think.

    thanks

Whatever man. I know the Wales match was basically meaningless. I get annoyed when people say the US won just because Wales didn't have their best players. All the game proved is that a set of US reserves can beat a set of Wales reserves.

Eurosnobs will never accept US soccer, nor will they accept MLS. And thats just fine with me. It doesn't matter how good the product is, or how well the national team does, because this is America and many people think we could never do well at the sport. MLS isn't the Premiership but its a lot better than a lot of leagues that have been around a lot longer. We're not going to develop better players by sending them to Europe where the managers make them sit on the benches--just ask Landon Donovan. They'll get better by playing, and they have the best chance of playing in MLS. They should only go abroad if they have a chance of getting good playing time.

That's partially why I'm not so sure on sending Tim Howard to Man United. If the team signs another keeper, Howard will be sitting on the bench 90% of the time and not developing at all. It's better for him to play 90% of the time in MLS than to play 10% of the time in England.

If they sign him, I think that would be great. But I'll be disappointed if he isn't getting any time out there.

I can't find a thing on the deal at the BBC site or Sky. Not even any talk on the boards over there.
If it was said to be done in the Times. I would guess it's real, though.

Or maybe you are. He clearly wasn't referring to you as 'the idiot' but rather tomvandamn. If you actually read the post that was being attacked, you'll see your point was perfectly correct, but just as out of order as anything anyone has said to you. You ended up sounding like you were indirectly defending the guy.
