Do not let your heart be troubled over this. As long as Jesus and company don't utter the 'f' word or the 's' word, it will be deemed acceptable viewing for a fundamentalist and his offspring.

I wonder, how do you say fuck and shit in Aramaic?

I suppose the good news is that the dude who once asked that nude statues in the Justice Department be cloaked is the outgoing Attorney General.

Two classic SNL references in one thread. I likes.
You know, I'm not Christian or anything but if historical records showed that Jesus worked blue while carrying the cross and getting flogged, I wouldn't hold it against him.

I just fired off an e-mail to ABC praising them for their choice.

I supposed you mean that both the 'f' and the 's' word would be quite appropiate under the circumstances. But you have to understand that Jesus was not your average Joe. At worst, He probably uttered something like: 'Good heavens, I am bleeding!'

    :D

Really? In the "Passion" game, are you going to be able to put Jesus into "God mode?"

I await all y'all's scorn, but they should have edited out all the iterations of the F word. It wasn't like it was used one time in a moment of great stress, like (in a different time) "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn."

There's no need for that to be on free TV. How many of you taking umbrage have children? Very few, I'll bet.

I mostly agree. It wouldn't have killed ABC to edit the dialog a bit.

That being said, the AFA is a bunch of tools.

The contract prohibited ABC from editing the movie.

I have children, and there's no way I'd let them watch a movie where limbs get shot off, heads get blown off, a man gets slowly killed with a knife to the chest, men are burned to death, bodies get blown to pieces, wounded soldiers drown under the weight of their backpacks, etc.

The 'f' word is the last reason I'd keep my child from watching this movie.

So you'd basically be playing Spartacus instead of Jesus.

Well, that's that. I guess we're left with "the AFA is a bunch of tools," which I doubt will be disproven.

    Sarcasm I hope?

If not, how old are your children and why are they watching this movie?

How many of us, however, know how to change the channel or play a game with our children instead? Or even-- having a serious conversation about the movie with our children afterwards?

That's just the most obscene thing I've ever heard you say. That deserves some negative rep about you and your kind to the FCC!

Plus, we knew for months in advance that ABC will show SPvtR, possibly unedited.

And given the explicit warning show repeatedly during the program, the "think of the children" argument is essentially an "I'm an irresponsible parent" admission. If parents cared so much about shielding their kids from ******** ******** ******** ******** ******** ******** ********, then they would have planned a night around more wholesome programming like "Will & Grace" or "The OC".

It seems to me that children who are too young to handle the 'f' bombs are likely going to be bored by a movie like SPR anyway. They will leave the room or they will drive their parents crazy until they change the channel.
