Understatement of the year: "Marcelo Balboa saw limited action (right knee bone bruise) in 2002."

Someone can remind me if a team has ever waived a player and then re-acquired him at a lower pay. The answer was no a year or two ago. Still no, right?

  5. What? No Balboa?!

There is nothing more hated than the guy who says "I told you so". Well, I don't need to be hated much more than I already am for merely telling the truth about Arena and other assorted DC scum, so I won't say that. Instead I'll say "I predicted that". That's right, against the prevailing opinion that Marcelo (there's no "Rocky" in our) Balboa was a stand up guy who would move mountains to prove his stuff to the NY fans, I predicted that we'd never see him in a Metro kit again. I believed and still do believe that the move to the Metro bench on salary was part of his MLS retirement package.

The cinema hero "Rocky Balboa" is as much fiction as is the Metro hero Marcelo Balboa. The fans were sold a bill of goods but I wasn't buying.

I thought Nick pioneered this move with Mohamed Khakpour.

Unfortunately, he wasn't even close to being the khakiest the second time around.
