Valdir (On loan to Ovarense) Varela (On Loan to Casa Pia) Edgar Marcelino (On loan to Penafiel) Custódio Danny Hugo Viana Paulo Sérgio Porto a close second with 5 players, one being Quaresma (and we know where he came from) Not bad, hopefully they will not let them go too early.
When does Varela contract end? The fact that he is on loan to Casa Pia (IIB, amazing that he couldn't find anything better than this...) may indicate that Sporting gave up on him and didn't prolong his contract. If that's the case, they will have to spend more now... Anybody knows the end of Varela contract?
Re: When does Varela contract end? I believe Sporting have a working agreement with Casa Pia. With the amount of forwards they have he didn't have a place just yet with the juniors. He was rated a bit lower that Saleiro and Djalo. He is still young, I believe he is only 19.
Don't forget Hugo Almeida was just called up too. So that would be 6 Porto players on the under 21 team.
Hey Frank, I think you understood my point. Sporting currently is producing some great talent. I just wanted to highlight that fact. Hey Benfica had 3 on the team.
Sporting is the club that has produced the most talent for years now, but they seem to sell the talent to other clubs early in the players' careers (but I can't blame them because they are making money selling their young players).
they should make a clause like Benfica did, in case Tiago return's to Portugal in the next 5 years to another portuguese club, Benfica to get addition 5 million euros
I wouldn't be proud of that, I'd be bitter. I'm still pissed to see Maniche wearing the blue & white everytime I see it.
I agree...and I still consider Simao and Quaresma Traitors. Both Miguel and Rocha took better deals so I can't be too bitter. At the time we had better players. It is always hit and miss with youth players.
How are they traitors? sporting sold both Simao and Quaresma to Barcelona. Sporting's Miguel Veloso is also from the Benfica youth system.
u didn't need to say that, he's so bad, i'm not proud of him, for me he's a Sporting youth levels boy
Both choose other teams instead of the one who made them who they are. I'm more dissapointed in Quaresma, who couldn't wait to leave. Then after sulking at Barcelona because he couldn't make the first team, lets himself get involved in the Deco deal. As for Simao, Benfica can keep him. He will never be the player that in his mind he thinks he is. He is the poor mans Figo.
I sense bitterness. I hope we do keep him, he's our top scorer and one of our best players alongside Petit & Miguel.
I am a bit bitter, he was my favorite player while at Sporting. Then I followed his brief career at Barca. (Like I do with all the Sporting Youth players) Then to come back and play for the enemy, my heart was broken.
