Re: Dirty South hockey, ya'll Since I live in Alabama, I hope they don't contract Atlanta or Nashville or they just lose way too much money and have to go out of business. I think the salary cap will help out towards keeping them in the league, but a revenue-sharing plan would be even better. Hopefully, the talent will be more equally spread out. If Atlanta and Nashville go out, I guess I will have to watch the Hurricanes on FSN South. Is there a revenue-sharing plan for the NHL now or in the works? -Von
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Co...ageid=968867503640&col=970081593064&t=TS_Home This is better news than previously thought... anyone know if ESPN is going to be carrying this announcement live??? Then again, we already know where Crosby is going...
Isn't TSN the Canadian affiliate of ESPN? I'm sure ESPN News will carry the TSN feed, but other than that, who knows? Who else thinks Bettman has a written on his hand that says "Remind everyone at every opportunity that the Rangers have 3 balls in the hopper so we'll have plausible deniability when this thing comes out the way everyone knows it will"?
Coach indeed... TSN was bought out by ESPN about four years ago, so hopefully ESPN 2 or ESPN News will carry it... I mean, what else is on anyways? As for the second point, that's the excuse... I mean c'mon, they arent even holding the draft live, "behind closed doors"... please...
The way Sather has been armtwisted into signing reject players for big bucks lately, I actually think he deserves a result in his favor. Many people blame him for starting all this markey inflation but in fact it was the higher ups tightening his tie...
I cant wait for free agency, there will be so many good players for a cheap price. I hope the Flyers pick up Niedermayer, he would definitely pick up our defense.
It might be a simple cooperation deal. Look at the recent announcement of satellite radio services. XM and Sirius are the big players, but they have Canadian associates (CBC and Canadian Standard Radio). But it looks like Bell Globemedia owns TSN. Then again... 2004: "Disney owns a 32 per cent stake in TSN through its ESPN International division. (Foreign ownership laws restrict Disney from owning any more than 33 per cent of the Canadian unit.)" http://www.friends.ca/News/Friends_News/archives/articles02120404.asp
Good for Pittsburgh... I'm glad it was them rather than Atlanta or Anaheim... good hockey town that could really use him.

Sens and my Canucks do well getting 9th and 10th picks. With solid rosters and having salary structures at or near the cap levels the next few years may be good to them. Montreal, I suppose, geting the 5th pick would be the "winner" amongst the one ball teams. Thinking about my first paragraph, I am curious how most of you would rank the teams for next year? Of course, we don't know what the rosters will ultimately look like, but if you had to guess, who do you see as the top 6-8 teams next year?
While this was probably the fairest way to do the draft, I can't help but feel a little screwed. Nobody would have been as bad as the Rangers if last season was played out. Now, with the 16th pick, nobody will be as bad as the Rangers for quite a long time.
Knowing the Pens they'll f up and send him to WBS to spend a couple years in the AHL and ruin the kid forever. At least I'll get to see him play though, WBS comes to Binghamton a lot (seeing as in how they're in the same division).
I've got to agree with this, the Rangers will suck for a while. Unfortunately their AHL affiliate doesn't have too many great prospects either.
' No way in hell... this kid is a major marketing opportunity for the Pens... the idea of pairing him wiht Lemieux means Mario may continue to play... Crosby will be likely on their first line with Mario and some other lucky winger.
Look at what they did with Marc-Andre Fleury. That kid was bouncing all over the place, which was a shame because he was better than what they had starting in goal.
fleury is a good goalie i believe he was rushed into it but has alot of potential wait a few years hell be a good pick.
i think florida really got screwed but who cares nobody suports the game there. what happened when they won the cup where are all the fans come on
