DC and Metro should just merge if they're going to keep making deals like this.

But if DC is going to trade proven veterans for draft picks and allocations, it looks like the whole United-missing-the-playoffs-because-they're-building-for-the-future thing will last for a few more years.

They better be doing physicals on these guys. I do not want to see Balboa II, III and IV.

Ha. Bergin had this weeks ago, right alongside the super secret scoop on a 'big young MLS player' that all the top clubs in England are making goo-goo eyes at.

Petke is as close as we have gotten to a 'true Metro' in our short existance...I'll miss him....but, thats the business.

    With the SEs in 134
DC wouldn't be making this deal if there weren't questions about Pope's health - and to a lesser extent Moreno's, although declining production is the reason he's getting dealt.

The two major reasons the Metros are getting so much more talent in the deal are:

    A) salary cap
    B) health concerns of the players involved

You get the better players, but you also have to take on the health risk.

How do I go home tonight? The wife is not going to be pleased with this bit of news. But honey, let me 'splain. Instead of looking at Petke all game, you'll be able to watch the ABMOD!!

Guys, how do I break this to her? And right before the holidays?

It has more to do with them not wanting to play for Hudson. But I also cant deny that Hudson isnt questioning their contributions. I think with them coming over here and actually wanting to improve and get better under Bradley will only mean that they are going to be giving 100% something they having been doing in DC.

There are a lot of DC fans who do not think we should be getting rid of either of them. FWIW, Moreno did not want to play under Rongen either so maybe he just doesn't want to play any more!! I am glad to be rid of him. Hate to see Pope go but that is a salary cap move more than anything else. Also due to him averaging 19 games a year or so for us over the past 5 years.

I think it's true that Jaime doesn't want to play for Hudson. I'd guess that Bradley insisted that DC throw Eddie into the deal in order for DC to unload Jaime. While there were questions about Jaime's desire and work ethic this past year, there were none about Eddie's - only questions about his health.

Regardless of the ultimate outcome (who stays healthy, who has a good season, who DC signs with its allocations), this has to be the strangest trade in the history of MLS. Next season's DC-Metro matches are going to feel like bizarro world...

Take out Zaiade and Put in Akwari and that looks like what we will have...until we have another half dozen roster moves that is.
