I disappointed myself. Why not, Alves is sick. Would interplay well. And his defensive ability is solid. Taking a tour of Manchester are we...
Let's just get a bid accepted by Lyon and see what Benzema. How could anyone turn down the chance to sign!? Dani Alves would just cost too much. Far too much. Get Beckham back!
No transfers until after Euro 2008 says Gill Fergie's Euro player watch stuart Mathieson 5/ 6/2008 UNITED will wait until after the Euro Championships before they splash out in the transfer market. Chief executive David Gill confirmed he is pursuing a host of targets for manager Sir Alex Ferguson - but revealed the Champions of Europe would not be making any major moves during Euro 2008. The Reds are still waiting to rubber stamp the £5m capture of Cardiff City's 17-year-old midfielder Aaron Ramsey. He is expected to travel to Manchester to see the manager in the next 48 hours. But Gill revealed they are prepared to be patient when it comes to any of their more high-profile targets. "I don't know about expecting new additions before we set off on pre-season but we expect something during the course of the summer," he said. "If you look at it traditionally when there is a big competition there is not a lot of activity going on when the competition is taking place. "Quite rightly the players are concentrating on the competition and playing for their countries. The mangers of those countries don't want distractions about transfers. "It is likely more moves will happen after the tournament so any new players wouldn't be with us on tour unless we do pull a rabbit out of the hat." Reds' boss Sir Alex is keen to bring in a new striker as well as a right-back. Lyons' Karim Benzema, Klaas Jan Huntelaar of Ajax and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano are all in his sights, as well as Brazilian full-back Daniel Alvez. United visit South Africa on July 17 for a three-game tour. They kick-off with a match against the Kaizer Chiefs in Cape Town at the Newlands Stadium on July 19. They will then face Orlando Pirates in Durban on July 22 in the Absa Stadium. The showpiece Vodacom 2008 challenge final between the Reds and the winners of the Chiefs versus Pirates match is expected to be played in front of a sell-out crowd at the Loftus stadium in Tshwane on Saturday, July 26. United have now announced they will fly from that final game for a visit to Nigeria where they will play FA Cup winners Portsmouth in a Community Shield dress rehearsal on a date to be announced. United's exhibition match in Nigeria will be the first time the Reds have visited the country, which is home to the club's fourth largest overseas fan base with 13.6m Reds living there. It follows on from United's the first trip to Saudi Arabia in January. ............................................ It seems to suggest that gill does not have specific targets and that our targets are involved in the euro's.Atleast the first choice ones.
