As much as I love this, and the memories it brings back of St. Lamar and many former players, it needs one edit. Remove Tyson Wahl. This turncoat who publicly supported the move to Austin, and has relocated to Austin to work for pr*court, has no place being associated with our Crewsmas.
I did it about a dozen times the past season and didn’t ever see anyone. My friend was “warned” during the USA Mexico game in Nov 16 and that was the last I ever heard.
I really recommend against this. Diesels can be very, very quiet--especially with a light load--and I've seen folks crawl under a stopped train, and you do not know if and when that train might suddenly move. Trains also cannot stop quickly. Too much momentum. Go around. It's not that far.
Alas, you're cleverer than I. Although winning the CCC has chilled my rock-hard conviction regarding COACHBOT9000, my disdain for the hire shall never go flaccid. Penis.
Well, yeah I don't recommend it to anyone either. And any response that I give about the pros of crossing tracks might be hubris. But to your point, the northbound trains have to signal at Weber for the public grade crossing (long, long, short, long toots). They do this at exactly the time they are passing the parking lot. The southbound trains have already passed Weber, so you wont hear that. Nonetheless, if you are gonna cross, I'd recommended relying more on senses other than hearing to decide when to cross. Me, I can smell them.
The southbound trains are often the lighter ones (and thus quieter) as there are any number of ones taking empty coal cars back south to the coal fields. Those often are going 55-65 mph (I've paced them on I-71 on occasion). That doesn't give you much reaction time. But, as Jerry Pournelle once noted "Consider it evolution in action" (from Oath of Fealty).
I grew up with a rail track behind my house. One day there were many people on the track. Someone was run over by a train. About 50 yards down the track all I could see was what looked like a burlap sack of potatoes! I didn't want to get any closer to inspect it!
I added "from him" to the end of that sentence in my head and thought "damn that's one hell of a warning".
Our group finally got our season tickets reassigned to the correct people! I was getting a little nervous.
Any Skyline is to much. Skyline is a crime agonist humanity. It should be uninvented kind of like vx gas. At least vx kills you some what quickly though.
So wasn't there some talk about how Land Grant was going to be brewing up a special "Saved the Crew" thing? Since you can't buy "Glory" at the moment, I'm just wondering if they're dropping the ball here. Just trying to plan my Saturday libations.
Just a few hours ago this was posted by Land Grant on FB: New Era, New Glory, this Friday we’re launching the first phase of creating our new @columbuscrewsc Supporter Beer. Just like the first time around, we’ve brewed four different beers and we want you, the supporters, to choose what becomes the new Crew SC Supporter beer. Try them on tap at 4th Street, Hendocs, Old North Arcade, and Ruby Tuesdays on Crewsmas Eve (Friday) and before the opener on Saturday, then join us in the taproom all week to try all four. Let us know what you think online, and the winning beer moves on to production status. Oh, feel free to toss us your name suggestions as well. #savethecrew #bemassive https://landgrantbrewing.com/crew
