Everyone has an opinion. At the end of the day Conte has 6 points 3 goals and 0 goals conceded. Given the negative expectations everyone had I think he is delivering more than enough.
Conte was going for the draw today...it was obvious Zaza even though he brought more to the game wasn't the difference maker and we were certainly more audacious against Belgium
How is it not evident to many of you that Conte has deliberately taken a very pragmatic approach with this side? His subs were Motta, Sturaro, and Zaza. If he were going out for the win, he would have brought on more creative, dynamic players. Luckily, we got the win. However, he would have been more than happy with the draw. He recognizes the lack of quality; and has formed a unit that will work hard, and with one another. You sacrifice for the sake of the team. How has it worked? We are the first side to qualify for the knockout stages with arguably the worst talent we have ever had. Thank goodness he is the coach and not a number of you. We have always been criticized for playing too negatively and pragmatically. In the past, that was a sound criticism because we had the talent to play more attractive football that would still get us results. We are not currently on that level. Kudos to Conte for recognizing that. Forza Italia!!
I didn't say you did. I would not call it tactical brilliance, but certainly is not the opposite either.
We're not hearing much from the Conte detractors in these last few days. Have you all suddenly come to the conclusion that he knows what he is doing?
This is a calcio forum isnt it? Can fans not bitch and moan all they want after watching their team refuse to come out and play for the majority of a match. It seems funny to me in this national team forum how some posters can tell other posters that they are not as big a fan as them because they dont agree with them. Have you never watched Italian tv, we have hours upon hours dedicated to this very thing. The team is flawed and it is fair to voice an opinion on it.
Too right!! This is nuts. What would you have said if someone had told you 2 weeks ago that we would win the first two matches and not concede a goal? "Shut up Italy Azzurri fan" or something along those lines?
We can appreciate constructive criticism; but some of you seem almost upset that we are winning, because it is proving that you have no clue what you're talking about.
I don't know why people still expect Italy to impress with their style and approach even whey they advance far in tournaments. This is the way we won a world cup and made it to the finals of the last Euros. You might actually have an argument if we had good attacking talent but we don't. Italy's strength is with their defensive line and goalkeeper. Play a tactically sound game and be opportunistic with the chances you get to score.
