Since Fabio Grosso 2006 is reviving old threads from a decade ago, I thought I might as well open a relevant discussion. It'll be very interesting to see who gets selected for this friendly since Prandelli will be without Juventus and Napoli players. But also, I doubt any of the other nationals that played at the Euro will be there also since they'll only be returning from holiday this week. I doubt Abate, Montolivo, Nocerino etc. will be in any kind of shape. So what's your roster and formation?
I don't know how Real Madrid and Barca let their players tour Mexico and South America after they won the world cup. Italian clubs would never let that happen. We were even bitching and complaining about having to play in the Confederations Cup. IMO this is a big reason why we are despised and Spain are praised. If the big clubs won't release their players, or if the players decline, they should just pick some younger fools that are hungry and need to exposure to advance their careers.
That, along with other reasons. Brasil used to have a traveling roadshow as well. The reason they did it though was for socioeconomic reasons, i.e. to get the players some exposure in hopes of winning a contract in Europe. The problem that we have is that Italy is already a great place to live and up until recently, Serie A was the strongest league, so there was no motivation to play abroad. You can't tell me that it would not have been cool if after Italy won the world cup in '06 they went to New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, Melbourne, Tokyo and Shangai or wherever to do a world tour. That would never happen though, which is all the more remarkable that Spain traveled around, albeit, not that much. If Serie A players are not fit enough or motivated for a friendly in August, perhaps Prandelli should pull an Ogbonna and call up a bunch of uncapped players from Serie B. Even if we got embarrassed, Prandelli has a staunch enough group of defenders here on this forum and I'm sure you that you would all back him. That, and at least we would get to see some fresh new faces instead of a bunch of people that don't want to be there, still thinking about summer vacation.
I don't know man. To say that Italy is despised because we did not make a post WC 2006 tour and we don't show up fit in August is a giant leap, and a little insane for that matter. No offence but every time I read your posts it's like I'm stepping into the twilight zone.
I know you did not mean this as a compliment, but those shows were awful intellectual and thought provoking for its time. I'll tell you what though, if the players and federation did not act like playing for the national team was such a burden on them, then perhaps they would be viewed upon differently. DDR is probably correct is his assessment though, that the players are going to show up for this one with their beach goggles still on. Perhaps the players deserve a break after their efforts.. more the reason to give new people a chance. Now, if Prandelli manages to beat England with a team totally made of Serie B players, I will admit that I was totally wrong and that he is an all powerful master of the universe, but chances are Cassano will be starting again.
Damn it! I already can't sleep at night, praying that the sandy beaches of Brasil don't turn into quicksand for us and these guys can't be bothered to show up for a friendly? Screw that! If we are going to stick with Prandelli, I demand 100% professionalism at all times. They better be playing like it's the effin world cup final every game up to and after they are actually playing in it or I will send disgruntled emails to the federation until the entire internet destroys itself. Now, that may seem a little crazy to some of you, and though you might be forgetting that 'fan' is short for 'fanatic', you would be totally wrong. Now let me go back to combing the peanut butter out of my beard in peace before my bats eat me!
Everytime you knock Cassano, I must smile because I keep remembering how you explained that you were/are educating people on Calcio
SO ANYWAY. Players that won't be available : Pirlo, Buffon, Giovinco, Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini, Giaccherini, Marchisio. Also Matri, but he might leave Juve. Apparently Prandelli was also looking at De Celgie For Napoli : Maggio, De Sanctis and Insigne. I believe Insigne would get called up if he were available. Here's my predication for some of the call-ups: Goal : Sirigu, Viviano, Defenders : Ogbonna, Astori, Schelotto, Ranocchia, Balzaretti, Bocchetti and Criscito (if he isn`t jailed) Midfield : Nocerino, De Rossi, Montolivo, Aquilani, Verratti, Diamanti, Attack : Balo, Destro, Osvaldo, Borini, Cassano In theory those should be some of the guys. But who knows how Prandelli will approach this game
Are not saying that Cassano should be called?!? That dude needs to retire from the azzurri, period. I don't feel sorry for him just b/c he had a heart attack. The guy was a total asshole his whole life, then God and Padre Pio punish him with a stroke, and I'm supposed to forgive all the things he did?I don't think so!! Homey don't play that! But if you would like to educate us and give us reasons why he should play in this game despite being a prick that Totti told Lippi about, "its him or me", that punched out David Lippi and lied that he would always be at Samp got drunk and tried to fight the owner, who got to play despite being fat and out shape in an mistaken effort to right the wrong that Lippi did by not calling him to South Africa, instead of arguing semantics with me, please feel free. Frankly, I'm embarrassed to have a player with such low class representing our attack at the national level and think its too bad that Prandelli's meritocracy was not retroactive, but if you got something good.. I'm all ears!
Nah! If it was, I'd be screaming about Saint Miccoli. Instead, I'm screaming about the future and these guys! Ugh! Too bad neither is available for this game..
Every time I read one of your posts, this is the image in my mind God and Padre Pio punished Cassano with a Heart Attack?! (it was a TIA btw) Is it because you don't really know much about what happens in Calcio that you resort to trolling?
cyclonis you're a troll dude....padre pio? really I can't tell if you are that stupid to give yourself away or you're just trolling and doing it purposely?... and then you have the nerve to deny it is you... get lost you tool....you contribute NOTHING here and your wasting space on the forum AS USUAL
lol if there is a rule against using multiple usernames for reasons to troll/waste time then mods please ban him!
Scorp. Do all of us a favor and post somewhere else. You make Azzurri supporters looks like morons - guilt by association. Please...
Pirlo 2.0 has a chance to shine against a team that Andrea destroyed. I hope you're right fratello...
