Gold numbers and names always looked the best on the Azzurri

I think Italy could do with a more creative play in midfield. #The front three are moving deeper too often to receive possession.

Zaniolo for Pellegrini should help there

Florenzi is actually having a decent game.

    1:1 at the end.

Two points dropped because Bosnia did not look a particularly high quality opponent.

Italy lacks quality across the pitch though, not just in midfield. The recovery process from more than a decade of mismanaging talent development is a long one.

These games give us an idea of what’s what so I’m not disappointed in the result. Mancini needs to change the formation. 4-3-3 was good to get us through qualifying, but we aren’t going to beat the bigs with this.

Realize these games are glorified friendlies but a disappointing result nonetheless.

The current group of forwards/strikers is a concern. It's fine when facing the Euro qualifying teams of last year (your Greece, Armenia, etc) but faced with a somewhat above average opponent (this Bosnia team) it struggled to create many dangerous chances; the lack of creativity/bite in the last third is troublesome; cannot see a way out of this because the selection of available/viable strikers is poor to non-existent. Serie A seriously needs to find/groom and promote home grown strikers.

Want to see what the team does against Poland and The Netherlands, both IMO stronger sides than Bosnia.

    Donnarumma looked shaky as well.

was really happy to get a draw with Italy, we played a lot more disciplined than usual. I would say the Italian midfield looked particularly weak and uneventful, was expecting you guys to have much more possession.

This is the mentality that has screwed us time and time again "oh it's just a friendly" "oh it's a meaningless tournament" and before you know it we lose a seed spot and get grouped with death or we don't qualify at all. Every game should be taken 100% seriously.

Bosnia played better than expected. Take this as a learning experience and move on

Did you guys know Italy has yet to score a competitive goal against us ;)

    1974 loss.
    Euro 2000 draw.
    Euro 2008 loss.

Anywho, good luck to you and lets hope no serious injuries

That 2000 game was the best defensive play I have ever seen from a team.

    Not quite.

1978 WC quarter-finals (played as two groups of four): Italy 1-2 Netherlands!

30 minutes in, pretty good performance so far. Immobile much more involved than Belotti was vs. Bosnia

Zaniolo is more useful as a mezzala IMO

    Lovely goal, excellent play all-round.

Italy deservedly in front at the interval.

Insigne and Immbolie are linking up nicely

Locatelli has been solid. Spinazzola has been excellent.

only question mark for me is D’Ambrosio

    Yes, I don't think he's an Italy NT-level player.
