Paladino was our best player in the first half. He was giving the Dutch trouble every time he touched the ball. Gila needs to be subbed, he's be useless thus far.

Two different players, as Rossi is a SS. Zarate or Cassano is needed, we need that "Totti or Baggio" up front. Remember a broken Totti provided great assists, we need that.

are people really arguing that dejongs tackle was ok?

palombo arrived at the ball 1st.
dejong had no chance of getting it.
and instead went through palombos leg with both feet studs out.

What are you talking about? :rolleyes:He had one of his "Oh no! I've got the ball outside of the box with one defender to beat" moment. Glad he kept with the usual headless chicken run/fall over/shoot it into the side of the net that we all expect from him;)

that was total football, except done by the italians.

i would have liked to see a goal come from that though.

Zambrotta gets away with a foul in the box.

What in god's name has happened to Huntelaar is what we're all wondering about over here! I guess both the Dutch and the Italians have loads to complain about their national team.

His head inflated thinking he was good enough for teams like REAL and MILAN, he should have played for us when we wanted him. He can't handle the pressure of a big team.

good question, hopefully it's just a confidence rut he can shake off, but he looks a shell of his former self so far this season. maybe the bench spell at madrid had a bigger effect mentally than most thought???

as for national teams, you guys biggest concern is fitness of some talented yet injury-prone players in robben, van persie, and sneijder. all those guys have been snake-bit and if they are healthy, then you should be fine in attack...for italy it's back to the drawing board and see what lippi can put together by next summer.

So shit, how much more room infront of the goal do they need to score?

Rossi has some serious initiative when going forward.

We should have fielded all new faces, the 2006 champs are lazy and think they're too good to hustle in a friendly.

We were missing Van Persie and Robben for most of our qualifying campaign and still qualified easily, I'm not really worried about our attack. We do worry as usual about our defence and in that respect this game is a nice surprise as we were never really in trouble. We're lacking in ideas up front but so is Italy really. If anything this Holland is more solid at the back than ever which is good news for us.

Why is this team so scared to shoot outside the box? Does Lippi tell them not to?

When there's no chemistry, there's balls and something to prove. These 2006ers think they're automatically on the squad, the others want it more.

other than gila, most of the 2006ers are either gone or still are some of our better performers as grosso, buffon, pirlo, and camoranesi have all had a big, positive influence throughout qualifying. even canna is looking capable again since moving back to juve. zambrotta is the only 06er who should probably go, but unfortunately right back is a very weak position right now for the azzurri so for now he stays by default.

let's not overreact to a 0-0 draw against a very good team and get ridiculous is all i'm saying.
