    Bit of a strange question

    Cremonese play in Cremona
    Udinese play in Udine
    Pistoiese play in Pistoia
    Luchesse play in Lucca

What does the 'ese' at the end stand for?

    is it just pronunciation

it's just to signify that they are from that town. It would be like the equivalent of a team calling itself "New Yorkers" or "Parisians".

it usually means "from that place"

    from torino: torinese
    from genoa: genovese
    from bologna: bolognese
    from milano: milanese
    from bari: barese
    from catania: catanese
    form verona: veronese

but it's not a universal rule

    from roma: romano, not romanese
from firenze: fiorentino, not firenzese :D
    from bergamo: bergamasco, not bergamese
