I may be mistaken but I think Roberto Mancini earned his first Cap in this match.

    I believe you are correct.

Then because Mancini and some others went out on the town in a few days later in NYC, Enzo Bearzot banned him from the national team and he was not recalled until Azeglio Vicini was hired on as CT.

“Grazie, grazie a tutti”, ripete Orsato. E cala il sipario.

Happy 75th birthday to Italy international Luigi Martini, the fierce defender who made anchored Lazio's backline through 203 appearances from 1971-78, then jumped to the NASL in 1979 and battled through injuries to play 7 games with the Chicago Sting, returning 2 years later for a 14-game stint with the Toronto Blizzard.

.Da sinistra, in piedi: Franco Causio, Dino Zoff (capitano), Fulvio Collovati, Gaetano Scirea, Roberto Bettega, Claudio Gentile; accosciati: Francesco Graziani, Antonio Cabrini, Gabriele Oriali, Giancarlo Antognoni, Marco Tardelli.

Ambrosini ( great Italian name ) looks so much better with short haircut. I wonder if Oddo hooked him up.

    Poor Massimo Ambrosini.

He played for Milan at a time when Italy had all the great players and always seemed to be overlooked when time to play for the national team.

He would probably be a star on today's azzurri...
