    Ok, I know this might be a dumb question, but how do you say:

    Lazio...is it Lats eo or laz zeo?

    Milan...is it Meelan or Milano or Milan?

    Roma...is it RO' ma or Ro' MA?

    Sorry hard to write the phonics on here.

    Lazio = LAH-tsee-o
    Milan = MEE-lan (although in my opinion, any non-Italian who says it this way sounds like an ass)
    Roma = RO-ma (come on, that one couldn't have been too hard).

    You might enjoy this old thread we had last fall - hang on, I'll dig it up. Here it is -

    Thanks, Sue!

    I had a feeling I was saying them correctly. I know this is crazy to say this, but Spanish and Italian are not that far off from each other. Please no attacks from either Italian or Spanish speakers...wink.

    I don't think anybody would attack you for saying that. The two languages are very similar in many ways. Details of the pronunciation are obviously quite different.

    I always say Mee-lan, but in trut it should just be Milan given the fact that it was founded by the English and named in light of that.

    I take my guidance from James Richardson of Football Italia.

    also notable:

    Inter is pronounced with 'strong' (dunno how to say in English) 'I' and 'e'.

    EE-nt-ehr, I suppose would be the phonic spelling for Inter.

    My thinking about saying MEE-lan (and EE-nt-ehr, for that matter) is the same reason I don't say "Mehico" and "Barthelona". There ARE English pronunciations of these words. Same with Milan, although, since it's the club's name, and not the Italian word for the city (which is MiLANo), I suppose it's not exactly the same.
