    At any level.

It's far and away easier to shut up shop in FUTSAL.
The trick is really get a lead, then you attack, the ball (with your fly-in subs, u can change players as fast as they get tired). And off course a good GK!

The first goal in Futsal usually tells the winner of the game. Scoring in an open FUTSAL game at 0-0 or any level score isn't all that hard, when trailing it's nearly impossible (against a good opponent, not knocking Spain!)

He suffered a bad ankle injury during the world championships (imagine that). I'm guessing he is either still injured or else got so huge during his convalescence that he couldn't stand anymore. ;)

Just noticed that RAI Sport Satellite is carrying Italy's games in this tournament.

    http://www.fastweb.it/streaming/raisport.asx

First game vs Portugal started at 6:30 AM EST this morning; it's at halftime just now. It'll be replayed later today at 4:15 pm, 11:30 pm, and early Tuesday at 4:20 am (all EST).

Tomorrow's game vs Hungary will be shown live at 8:30 am. I assume Wednesday's game vs Spain will also be shown live, with a kickoff of 1:30 pm.

Another easy win for Italy today - 5-0 over Hungary and the Azzurri advance to the semifinals from Group B, along with Spain. Tomorrow's game between the two will determine who wins the group. In the other group, surprising Russia leads Group A with 2 wins in 2 games, while Ukraine and the host Czechs are each 1-1. The Netherlands are winless in their two matches. Italy and Spain would probably both be favored against any of those teams, so coming in first or second is not that important, but the winner tomorrow could have a psychological edge if they meet again.

Italy beat Spain in the second group stage at the world championships before losing to them in the final there. I hope history doesn't repeat! Yesterday's win sounds like a more dominating performance than in Taiwan although the game report suggests a lot of subbing was going on, in view of the chance that the game meant little and they might meet again.

Russia faces Italy today at 12:30 pm EST. Spain plays Ukraine in the first semifinal at 9:30 am.

RAISport lists the first semifinal as being shown live but not the second. I would HOPE they'll adjust their schedule to account for Italy being in the second one.

Final and third-place matches are on Sunday.

It's all over for Italy, as they were shocked by Russia 4-2 in today's semifinal. Italy was ahead 2-1 and seemed ready to win, but Russia scored 3 times in the final 8 minutes. Spain beat Ukraine as expected (5-0), so Spain and Russia meet in the final. Italy plays Ukraine in the consolation match.

Too bad. It would have been great to win a 2nd consecutive Euro after losing in the world championship final.

I get the impression Italy was looking ahead to a rematch with Spain in the final. At any rate, Spain won the championship, beating Russia 2-1.

The Italian futsal national team starts action today in the international 'Grand Prix' tournament being played in Brazil. The other teams involved are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, and the Czech Republic. The teams are split into two groups with the South American teams in one group and the European groups in the other. Italy plays the Czech Republic today and Croatia on Thursday. The semifinals take place Friday with the final and 3rd-place matches on Saturday.

Italy's national futsal team is currently ranked 3rd in the world by both www.futsalplanet.com and www.futsalworldranking.be although the top 2 teams differ in the two polls - Spain and Portugal are 1 and 2 at the former while Brazil and Spain lead the way in the latter.

Here is the Italian squad chosen by head coach Alessandro Nuccorini:

    Goalkeepers
    Barigelli (Roma)
    Alexandre (Alter Ego Luparense)
    Xuxa (Bisceglie)

    Field Players
    Perquinho (LazioNepi)
    Patrick (Lab Infissi Reggio Calabria)
    Cleber (Marcianise)
    Camaron (LazioNepi)
    Marcinho (Icoper Montesilvano)
    Nando Grana (Alter Ego Luparense)
Thyago Santi (Lab Infissi Reggio Calabria)
    Edgar Schurtz (Marcianise)
    Foglia (Icoper Montesilvano)
    Bato (Roma)
    Dudù (Icoper Montesilvano)
Vinicius (El Pozo Murcia - Spain)

This tournament will serve as a tuneup for European qualifying which takes place in February with Italy playing host to a mini-tournament with Belarus, France, and the winner of a preliminary qualifying group consisting of Finland, Albania, Armenia, and Turkey. The winner in February will advance to the 8-team European finals next November in Portugal.

Is their atleast 1 Italian on the team? Looks like all naturalized Brazilians, except for maybe Barigelli.

Going off the names and past history, I'd say that's correct. Barigelli was born in Rome, and he may be the only native-born Italian on this list.
