Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 I would think so, don't they have the rights to all the italian qualifiers? faroe islands and lithuania should be six points, which if it is, then after 7 games at worst we will be solo second with 16 points, or we could be tied for first (with a small chance of actually being solo first, but that would be minuscule I believe)
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 This match is not in Italy so i don't think RAI international will show it as they only have the right for the home games if i remember correctly
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 yeah but they also get away games depending on the price the away federation places on the rights. I'm sure the Faroe Islands and Lithuania won't ask for much so they will most probably be broadcast on RAI.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 I've never understood the point of teams like Faroe Islands and San Marino even competing.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 I don't know, but going into these games i don't want too be too positive. Cause, I can imagine an embarassing loss.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 exactly. Euro qualifying should be done like Champions League Qualifying. The teams are seeded, the weaker clubs face off in the earlier qualifying rounds and then the bigger teams join in the group stage.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 So they can have fun. If I lived in one of those countries, I'd do it Why not?
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 It's really more of a unnecessary waste of time for bigger countries. I've always been for making some type of second division world cup for smaller countries and have a type of relegation of the bottom 10 countries in the first division, sort of like a serie A/B, but for nations. I mean this would get confusing but who else agrees with me?
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 yeah, from the perspective of the little nations it might be great, but you could have groups of four/five instead of seven and that would cut down on the amount of world cup and euro qualifiers. help a little with fixture congestion for the big nations.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 The Faroe Islands isn't really any competition for us, so hopefully we beat them by a nice margin and get our three points as we countinue on in our Euro 08 campaign. The idea for all smaller nations to have a world cup type competiton in the future is a pretty good idea. It gives them a chance to actually win something and give them some glory. Right now though, I don't mind playing them.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 SoccerTV is listing this game to be shown on Rai International Live at 2:40pm EST. Pretty sure the Lithuania game will be on also as in the past when Italy has played some former Soviet states like Georgia and Belarus they games were on live.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 Toni surgery a success Luca Toni will miss two crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers after undergoing foot surgery this morning http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/may19f.html...
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 Even though the Azzurri are much much superior than teams like F.Islands or Lithuania, but I just feel so much more comfortable when Toni's playing .. Anyway, Italy really should be able to get the 6 points without any problem (even though I really hope nothing goes wrong and we get another stupid draw against Lithuania, I watched their match against France on their home field, they did create some problems for the French), so who do you guys think should be the starting forwards ? What if Del Piero and Gilardino start for the F.Island match, won't that be a good idea ? (I know many think Del Piero is old for the azzurri..etc, but against a weak team like F.Islands, his experience should really help, plus he's doing good in Serie B and is their top scorer). As for the Lithuania match, I really don't know who would start that match, I hope for Cassano and Gilardino, but that unfortunately seems almost impossible at the moment .
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 We should be able to beat Faroe Islands with almost any striker combination. I think we should give Gilardino a chance in the Faroe Islands match though, so he can build his confidence and score a couple goals. I don't wan't Cassano to get called up though. Cassano hasn't even played for a couple months because all he does is sit on the bench for Real Madrid. Right now, he isn't even a option.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 It's a no brainer Gila will be starting this match. But who will play up front? Likely candidates are: Del Piero, Di Natale, or maybe a long shot of Inzaghi (Donadoni will have his eyes peeled on the CL final this Wednesday). Cassano must likely won't get a call up. He is seeing zero action in Real Madrid & even though Donadoni seems to really like him, Cassano's form can't be very great right now.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 yeah, he is playing well, he always seems to hit his volleys well. seriously, he has got to be one of the more consistent players in not slicing his volleys wildly. he always puts it with power near/on target. he might not be a bad idea to play.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 Thats what I was thinking. Cause, he'll finally play in a game, won't bring him back into his form, but i'm sure it will do something. And even if he plays terrible, it's not against a strong team. Hopefully, he gets rid of his "arthritis in his right ankle" soon . Is this "arthitis" for real? Or is it an excuse for him not showing up to training for the past 3 weeks?
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 wouldn't quagliarella be considered for a starting roll up front against the faroe's at least?
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 Yes he could. That wouldn't surprise me at all. If he does get called up, hopefully we'll see him get alot of action.
Re: Italia vs F.Islands 2June/07 these should be easy wins for italy I am very excited about these games. can't wait.
