When: 7:30 PM, Saturday March 12th Where: Audi Field TV: NBCSW+, TeleXitos, ESPN+ and DC United.com Neither team has allowed a goal through 2 games. However, Chicago also hasn't scored a goal either. 0-0 barnburner? No Nyeman, Canouse is maybe, Gressel seems OK. A Skundrich/Djeffal midfield. And it will be ********ing cold -- wind gusts hitting 30mph, windchills in the teens. Perfect WCQ weather.
2-0 good guys. and I am bringing lots of adult liquid into the stadium to stay warm. I will let my 15 year old drive us home.
Shaqiri has been invisible for the Fire, like Flores for us but he has even higher attacking expectations. For a winger, he looked awfully slow against Orlando last week, but he also looked slow when he was at Liverpool. Not sure a road game with freezing temperatures and gusts is the one where he and the Fire find their rhythm. I discovered the Bailey's-and-hot-chocolate West Side vendor last game. I plan to rediscover it a few times Saturday.
When I moved from SC to Erie PA in high school one winter, I used to do a shot of peppermint schnapps before walking to school - but I can only really recommend it ever be used this way, as an anti-freeze
what is the forecast for kickoff at 7:30? I might try to upgrade to the heiney club for this one. Heck, with the few hundred of us that will actually be at the game they should just let us all into either of the club just for coming out. hot chocolate w booze is fine. but whiskey with whiskey is just as good.
Another ugly game. Bad field conditions usually favor the defense, but an untimely miffed clearance or misstep will be fatal to any defense. Who has the better mudders?
Loudoun United is actually loading a set of seat vouchers into the season-ticket-holders' accounts because of the expected weather Saturday for their home opener, i thought that was pretty nice of them. I'm not going anyway. Will be nice to have extras for if/when I do go later in the year. As for the real United .... I anticipate another nail-biting 1-0 win for the good guys - but it would be nice if they could duplicate the 3-0 home win instead. I might be convinced to go to a game at The Plex as someone mentioned earlier But I doubt we'll ever see that place again since all the pro teams teams have left for more concrete pastures. I miss the tailgating there - but since there is no ferry any more not sure it'd be worth the drive.
Remember the Jamaican dude wearing the full-length quilted down overcoat? He caused a sensation - but we all were envious.
Thinking about games at the 'Plex, reminds me of trips my daughter and I took down to PW County to watch the Norther Virginia Majestics back in the day. We even took a road trip to Virginia Beach to watch the championship playoffs in whatever Women's league was operating between the two "major" leagues that ultimately folded.
Why the hell did USSF schedule this game here with such crappy weather??? Sorry, wrong thread. Hopefully good guys win 3-0 on 3 set pieces despite the weather.
Harbor View at the 'plex and the Galaxy game that Pontius won in stoppage are the coldest I can remember; there are 10 different Houston games that were the rainiest ... but the only game I remember that was bitterly cold and rainy was also against the Fire.
Well, I officially bailed and canceled my parking. Just too cold for my old bones. (My spouse, who is much smarter than me, had bailed very early on.)
