For some reason every search I make shows a bunch of recent posts (only those from the same day, usually) and then it suddenly skips to posts written on October 11th and earlier. Is it a bug or is the search function limited??
I just did a search for my posts. My most recent one that popped up is from 2008. Similar results when I checked other random posters.
Still not working. However, when I clicked on the last page, I got my most recent post, with the latest one on the top of the page. So, it's only turning up about half of the usual 5000, and it seems to have reversed the order that it used to be presented in.

I'd say that it looks like every 3-4 days all indexing of messages posted after the noon of 11 Oct (+/- a couple of hours) are being deleted from database. For example at this moment any search on some subject have a huge break between 27 Dec and 11 Oct. 5 days ago there were posts from 23-24 Dec in the search results. I suppose that a couple of days later the messages from 27-29 Dec will not appear in the search results any-more. The search by author have not such break.
Thanks. I did send this along to our tech team though things are a little slower over the holiday season. It should be addressed early next week.
I have tracked it a little and can now confirm the time of index removing. It's every Sunday/Monday night in USA, somewhere between 2:00 and 5:00 of Eastern coast time. It was okay with last week posts when I've checked about 5 hours ago and now they are gone from search. The same was a week ago.
The problem remains exactly as mattteo described it in the first post from over one month ago. The Advanced Search turns up recent results and results from before around October 10, 2010, but nothing in between. Currently it appears as if the word "Donovan" did not appear on BigSoccer between October 11, 2010 and January 23, 2011. Search "Payne" if you want an example with fewer pages to sift through. Or try "dark knight" (with the quotation marks) as it seems nobody mentioned you between October 8, 2010 and January 24, 2011.
