I thought it was supposed to start right about now.
Is this the one where they will confirm they are playing in Robertson and will reveal the new name?
That's what I thought and was hoping to listen over the net.
Can't find anything though.
I thought it was 11 in whatever timezone they have in Texas.
What a great way to start!!!
It says 11am EST on MLS website
mlsnet.com says 11 am EST.
MLS press conferences never start on time.
But there isn't even a link or anything....usually they have that much up on MLSnet.com
Good point. I can't listen here at work to tell, but the Listen link there is only for yesterday's press conference?
Link is live now.
Can't get video from any of the Houston network affiliates.
But the link is now live ....
"Hola. That's the extent of my Spanish ...."
Sounds like they're going to be at Robertson Stadium at the University of Houston rather than at Reliant.
Well, it's better than when Dallas was in the high-school field ...
The audio's not working well on Houston's end, sorry we're having problems with it on the site.
The team will remain in MLS' Western Conference.
Team Name: Starting soon, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the team name by visiting www.MLSinHouston06.com.
Sounded like Robertson for the next three years.
President of MLSHouston - Oliver Luck
Team founding partner: Home Depot?
I guess the Club America funding is not coming through.
"Toolshed FC," anyone?
A name the team contest? Why do I believe no good will come of that?
Quick look at Robinson on the WEB---says it seats 32K and is grass. Looks like there is room to expand the Carryball field to a Soccer sized field. Almost looks like a nice compact SSS. Now if we can just get them to play their Carryball games on the road during the first half of their season.
But I read on Big Soccer that the fans know how to name teams better than the teams themselves so why not?
Right. In your heart you know they'll choose a terrible name.
Thing is, you know it's rigged, we'll never see results, and the team will have the last say, so it's more of a publicity stunt then anything.
Well, someone put up the results of a "name the team" poll if Houston got a team on BigSoccer, and the winner was Club America Houston.
I'm wondering how you create uniforms for a team in 3 months and still have time for a name the team contest. Guess their uni's will be as unique as the Rev's 2005 uniforms.
I hope so!
Because they usually already have a name picked out; they just use this contest as an excuse when it's released and the public goes, "What the ......?"
