According to Sky Sports in Switzerland, the Reds are looking at Jeremy Jacquet as an option to replace Konate. The report claims that the club’s scouts have followed him extensively and believe that he has ‘something special.’ As a result the recruitment team are now ready to make an attempt to sign the 20-year-old Rennes defender who is one of the most sought after talents at the French side. Jacquet makes a lot of sense. There is simply not many better defenders among his age peers in European football right now. He’s got everything to reach the very top level of the game. Not only is he fast, he’s strong in his duels and reads the game really well. On top of everything, he’s someone who is comfortable on the ball. He can go long and make great vertical passes, as well as deal well under pressure in the build-up. Being so young, the sky is the limit for him. He’s literally got the potential to be one of the best centre-backs in world football. Capable of playing that RCB role, the prospect of him playing alongside Virgil van Dijk is mouthwatering. Saudi Arabia is prepared to do "whatever it can" to bring Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah, 33, to the Saudi Pro League in January. (Gulf News) Liverpool is the preferred destination for Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo, 25, when he leaves Bournemouth. (Team Talk), external Semenyo is wary about joining Tottenham, with Arsenal and Manchester City also interested. (S**) Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, 25, remains keen on a move to Liverpool but Barcelona have also shown an interest in the England international. (Team Talk) Liverpool and Chelsea are both interested in RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, 19, who is likely to cost about 80-100m euros (£69m-£87m). (Fichajes - in Spanish)
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl plans to hold talks with England centre-back Marc Guehi at the start of January, which is when the 25-year-old can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club as his deal with Crystal Palace ends in the summer. (Sky Sports Germany) Aston Villa have informed Liverpool they are looking to send back England Under-21s midfielder Harvey Elliot in January - the 22-year-old has been on loan at Villa Park since the summer. (Teamtalk)
Unless his doctors have told the club something we don;t know, he should be fine. But there is next summer to analyze that and see if it starts to look like he (specifically) needs re-replacing. In the meantime. Either keep or replace Konate and Joe, and get Guehi in Jan
Tottenham are prepared to smash their wage structure to sign Bournemouth and Ghana winger Antoine Semenyo, 25, ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool. (Teamtalk)
Manchester City are targeting Crystal Palace's 25-year-old England defender Marc Guehi as the man to lead an overhaul of their defence next season. (Times - subscription required)
It seems like there won’t be a single team in Europe who is not interested in Marc Guehi. He’s a top centerback who will be available for free in the summer. I think it will come down to how in love was he with the idea of signing for Liverpool. On one hand, we are a less attractive destination because we are not going to win the league title. On the other hand, in the summer we might have seen him as a 3rd choice centerback who would have to earn his place in the team. Now we would view him as a savior who walks straight into the first eleven.
Maybe it's just me - but I wanted to maybe see a picture of the player in the article - not some picture of a guy in a suit who is employed in the business side of LFC ... ffs .....
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are all in the frame in the chase for Bournemouth's 25-year-old Ghana winger Antoine Semenyo, who has a £65m release clause which can be activated during part of the January transfer window. (Talksport)
Actually on second thoughts, I really believe their sources, so there’s even more reason to believe that Wirtz is going to Real. The next article after this one was about Jürgen taking over at Tottenham imminently.
I dunno. We need someone to replace Salah next summer (or if in January - Saudi pays for the outbidding). Not too many players of that ilk available. Guehi (a CB - 1 - until we know about Leonie and actually sell one or two of Joe/Ibrahim) is the only other pressing need.
I think earlier when noise was first starting to build that Pearce or Ornstein were saying that it looked like his agent was putting this stuff out there. The only way I see this becoming real is if Salah leaves in the Jan window. We do have the Hughes connection, and he probably rates Semenyo since he signed him for Bournemouth... and we probably do have room for one more striker, given we've not replaced Jota yet. But I agree that I don't see this as one of our top needs at the moment. I'd much rather a CB and a more defensive minded midfielder (maybe a good, reliable RB as well?).
Might not be an immediate need, but like Isak (ha!), I can easily see this as an opportunistic signing, especially with a low-ish release clause. Low-ish, y’know, when £65m is low.
I can easily see us moving for a winger in Jan. Neither Cody or Mo has looked consistently effective enough so far and I think we clearly miss Diaz's trickery. I see us linked with both Semenyo and Malick Fofana . Also with a couple cb's and I think one of each would be very useful for the run in for a CL spot.
I can't understand why Wirtz hasn't been better, but I don't watch as much EPL as I do La Liga. That said, I don't understand LPB's interest in Wirtz, when they already have Bellingham and Arda Guler . They're both purported to be #10s, and LPB need an 8 (a Vitinha or Pedri type), not another 10. If the Wirtz to LPB rumors are true, it means that they're still trying their "galacticos" approach that is predictably failing. (Which makes me happy.) So, I'm a bit dubious as to Wirtz going to madrid. I'd think that MacAllister would be a better fit for them, TBH.
You realize we are making fun of that article - right? Because it's a made up rumor. Wirtz has been doing significant better the past month - and seems to have gotten stronger. Presumably the stats will come soon - but he's been big part of the last several good/better games.
