We absolutely have. World's best manager, best goalie, best CB, best forward. All at the same time. We'll see a lot of fans going berserk as they realize we're not able to bring in similar replacements.
Yup we're seeing the passing of one of the golden generations of Liverpool players. A team of legends. Great while it lasted.
Liverpool are on red alert with Real Madrid now open to selling France midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, 23, who is a long-term target for the Reds. (L'Equipe - in French) Arsenal have the edge over Liverpool in the pursuit for RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, 19. (Caught Offside) Liverpool and Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Monaco and France winger Maghnes Akliouche, 24. (Teamtalk)
Akliouche is Wirtz 2.0 and a couple years older. Makes no sense to add another pace-less #10 to our attacking options.
I like the idea of pursuing Camavinga. Think he could be a good fit alongside Gravenberch. And I’ve already said Diomande would be my top target on the wing. I think at minimum the shopping list should include 2 new wingers. An athletic central mid who can play alongside Gravenberch. And a left footed defender to replace Robertson. That along with keeping Konate, and Jacquet who we already signed. I would sanction the sale of Mac Allister. Others might go too, but in that case we would need even more in.
As much as I hate to say it, I think we probably need another RB as well. Kind of crazy how we seem worse off right now than we were at the end of last season....
🚨 Liverpool are now closer to reaching full agreement with Ibrahima Konaté over new contract.Negotiations are advancing well after Real Madrid talks stopped in November, with Liverpool now progressing. Not done/sealed yet but #LFC confident.🎥➕ https://t.co/vYxmYy1FWD pic.twitter.com/PPBMr3DM3N— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 9, 2026
Here’s how I think we should play next season with 3 new signings in the starting eleven. The first new signing is a new left winger. Someone who can also play on the right. Diomande is who I have in mind. Second new signing is a new central midfielder who can cover lots of ground, win the ball, and pass the ball. Mac Allister’s lack of legs and athleticism has been a major problem this season. Third new signing is a new left back who is really a centerback. Someone to help Virgil and also capable of filling in for him. Getting one more defender in would leave us very strong at the back with Virgil, Ibou, Leoni Jacquet, Frimpong, Kerketz, Gomez, and Bradley. Next season is probably the last season of Virgil and Gomez and the transition will be easier with the young kids already in place. Starting eleven on paper: Alisson Frimpong Konate Virgil NewLB Gravenberch NewCM Wirtz Isak Ekitike Diomande In practice it’s more of a back 3: Alisson Konate Virgil NewLB Gravenberch NewCM Wirtz Frimpong Isak Ekitike Diomande You get two center mids sitting in front of the defense and the defensive stability of three stay at home defenders. You get Wirtz playing centrally in behind the two forwards. You get pace and width on both sides. You’re not committing to a true 3 at the back system with wing backs. You have one wing back and one winger who is a forward and don’t feel an attacker short. The formation can be flipped with Gomez playing right back, but really as centerback, and Kerketz high and wide on the left, switching Diomande to the right. It will be the manager’s (whoever that is) job to find a way to fit Wirtz, Ekitike, and Isak in the same team without making us too easy to play through. Slot has failed to do that this season. I also realize that I picked a team that does not include this season’s best player. That would be a good problem to have. Szoboszlai’s best position is Wirtz’ position. I would like to seem him improve defensively and be able to play as one of the two deeper positions. He can also play right back.
Agree completely on the RB. With Trent leaving and Bradley or Frimpong coming in it was a good, not great replacement. Outside backs adding to the attack are extremely important to the Klopp/Slot style of play. On the left I'm not sold on Kerkez but he's beginning to play better. Given injuries etc and Robbo leaving, it's very important we get that right on both sides.
It appears Ibou has agreed a new contract. He definitely has divided opinion this season but I'm happy if he's re-signed.
His form has been iffy this season but we know what hes capable of plus its one less player we need to buy.
Juventus are gaining hope of signing Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Liverpool, with the 33-year-old reportedly open to a move to Serie A. (La Gazzetta dello Sport - in Italian) Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group believe Dutchman Arne Slot, 47, will lead the club next season despite another defeat this week. (Telegraph - subscription required) Real Madrid could intensify their efforts to sign Bayern Munich and France winger Michael Olise, 24, who is also a target for Liverpool, in the summer transfer window. (Christian Falk) Liverpool and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen and Cameroon forward Christian Kofane. (Teamtalk) RB Leipzig and Castello Lukeba are in agreement that the France defender will leave the club this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all assessing the 23-year-old. (Teamtalk)
that's why it's a blurb off some back-page sports tattle..... also, we could get harvey Elliot back for that Wirtz understudy purpose
Liverpool have reportedly moved to the front of the queue to sign Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes this summer. The Brazilian is likely to be available on the market following Wolves’ impending relegation, and with the Reds in need of a new midfielder, Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte have installed them as favourites. Given the state of his current club, it is even suggested that Gomes could be free to leave for far less than his current £60m valuation, and Liverpool are now in pole position to capitalise. It has become clear over the course of the season that Liverpool badly need a new defensive-minded midfielder to ease the burden on Ryan Gravenberch in particular. Liverpool emerge as favourites to land £60m Brazil international who's convinced by Anfield move
Sounds interesting. Is he any good? Never paid much attention. God knows we need reinforcements all over the pitch.
Tottenham are favourites to sign Liverpool and Scotland left-back Andy Robertson, 32, as a free agent in the summer, subject to Spurs avoiding relegation this season. (Athletic - subscription required) Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all linked with a summer move for highly rated Netherlands and AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit, 20. (Caughtoffside)
I'm all for a new CM, but IMO one of the reasons arsenal are dull this year is Zubimendi - not much ooomph out of the line, compared to Xhaka or Odegaard the Sboz idea of he, Grav and (Wharton would be nice - or Tchoumani) in behind Wirtz isn't a bad idea at all.....
Liverpool are looking at Brighton and Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh, 21 - who worked under Arne Slot at Feyenoord - to potentially replace outgoing Egypt forward Mohamed Salah, 33. (Mirror) ...... Good player.
I've seen his name mentioned a lot (never watched him play) and it seems he's a real talent. Some huge challenges though: - He signed with RBL less than a year ago (July 25). Unless we throw a ton of money at them I'm not sure why they'd want to release him? - He's only played 27 games in the Bundesliga. Our transfer team require a lot more than that to avoid the "one hit wonders"? - Looks like RBL will get into the CL so if we don't ......
Liverpool and Chelsea are set to battle it out for 19-year-old Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, with the Cherries willing to accept an offer in the region of £60m. (Caught Offside) .... I wouldn't be able to pick him out of a police lineup (unless the others were Sumo wretslers I guess).
Liverpool Among Contenders for Mingueza as Transfer Race Intensifies Back in December, Anfield Index exclusively reported on Liverpool’s interest in a potential move for Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza. Now, fresh reporting from Graeme Bailey for TeamTalk has also placed Liverpool firmly in the mix for Oscar Mingueza, with the Spanish international attracting widespread attention ahead of the summer window. The 26-year-old, is set to become a free agent, prompting what Bailey describes as a rapidly escalating chase. As stated in the report, “More than half a dozen Premier League clubs have now joined the race” for Mingueza, underlining just how competitive this situation has become. Alongside Liverpool, clubs including Arsenal and Manchester City are now involved, with intermediaries actively exploring potential deals.
