Germany centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck's contract at Borussia Dortmund runs out in 2027 and the 26-year-old, who has been linked with Liverpool, is one of Real Madrid's top targets for the summer. (Mundo Deportivo - in Spanish)
Yeah, if I'm him, I'm looking at Rio getting the attention and saying "if he's being under-utilized given the troubles at that level, how am I going to make it?" And I'm also having a think about a long-term contract with Liverpool, not wanting to get stuck going on loan for the next several years with clubs who don't have a true interest in my development. I'd rather jump and back myself to make the grade as a regular first-team player and work up the levels.
“Liverpool are considering bringing Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jarell Quansah back to the club already after only a year away. (Sky Germany) The England international has a release clause worth €80m, which is valid until the end of May” That would certainly be an interesting strategy. Spend a ton of money to bring him back when we desperately could have used him this season.
Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, 27, is not planning to hold talks with Liverpool over a new contract this summer but is happy at Anfield despite links with Real Madrid. (Mundo Deportivo - in Spanish)
Might make sense? Liverpool's chance to sign Julian Brandt on a free transfer this summer Or is he injury prone?
The division is largely irrelevant as far as price goes tho it will dictate Forests best players wanting to leave. Anderson will attract loads of interest from City,Utd,Chelsea and us so expect his fee to be up there. As will Murillo.
I thought we tried to sign him last...decade??? I didn't want him then, and I certainly don't want him now!
There’s a rumor that Richard Hughes has taken a job in Saudi Arabia. Could be a new manager and a new sporting director by the start of next season.
There certainly were rumors about this during his time at Bournemouth. I wonder if this isn’t a recycling of the same given how fragile Liverpool look this season, because I don’t see him going, absent firing? Other than Spurs, is there a club more looking forward to the offseason for salvation than Liverpool?
I was saying the same over the weekend to my son - Liverpool and spurs have to be the 2 most disappointing teams this season to their respective supporters.
That's interesting and I can see how the powers that be at Anfield might be dissatisfied overall with Hughes work this year. I think all of the players signed are good players but I also think its clear that the team has been left unbalanced with key components missing at cb,lw,rw and def mf. So questions might well be asked as to whether money could have been spent more wisely eg could the 120m for Isak have been better used on two or three players in other positions?
Think you answered your own question there, and I agree. The reach for Isak was (in retrospect, of course) a reach too far because of the opportunity costs involved. We got a premier forward after already buying another one, and in the process completely bolloxed up a transfer strategy that could have left us with a far more balanced team.
I think we're looking at the Isak deal with a bit of a jaundiced eye do to how it's turned out so far. If we had a relatively healthy Isak at his NC best, he would be contributing a significant number of goals, and our season would be looking entirely different.
Given that we won the league and topped the CL League phase last year with the midfield we have this year, you'd have to wipe that bit off the slate. And given that we gave Mo Salah a King's ransom for to play another couple of years - that one too.....
Nope. We have no successor or proper backup for Mo who has been really ineffective this year . Grav is excellent but we still lack a ball winner def mid who would replace Endo. So an option at rw when Mo is not getting the biz done and/or a def mid to help close out games such as the recent Spurs game would be useful assets to have methinks.
