I can't really understand this at all - we have 2 center backs for the next 5 months. we are likely not resigning Konate - if there is some one that we like we need to move up the timeline. it's not like we don't need at least 2 more CBs this summer.
Maybe we are trying to grab a cb but the Jan window can be a really difficult one and I think the price will be high if a good one is available. It really makes the failure to get Guehi in the summer sting even more.
AFAIK they didn't go for him last summer ... so it could be they're just trying to eff us over now and forcing us to pay up this month. whatever: If we lose Guehi to MC it'll be an error of enormous proportions. and if we don't get a ready-to-play CB this month -- a bigger error. our backline - and season as a result - are hanging by a damn thread.
Liverpool could be about to enter a bidding war with Real Madrid for Dutch starlet Kees Smit, according to the Daily Star. AZ Alkmaar value Smit at £52m but stiff competition could force clubs to pay even more to secure his signature, with Newcastle also being linked with the young midfielder. ....never heard of him. midfielder aged 19 - 16 games in Eredivisie - that price must be a joke of some sort.
Andy Robertson has said his Liverpool future remains unresolved despite his contract expiring in five months and admitted this season’s limited playing time has been a frustration. Liverpool have held talks over extending their vice-captain’s outstanding Anfield career but, with no firm offer on the table, Robertson’s next step is uncertain beyond competing in Scotland’s first World Cup for 28 years. The left-back, who turns 32 in March, turned down Atlético Madrid last summer and is likely to have several options should he become a free agent. “We’ve had chats now which will remain private; we’ll see what happens,” said Robertson, who admitted it was “a difficult question” whether he wanted to stay. “I’ve got five months left and we need to see the option to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that. I’ll sit down with my family and decide. “After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it, and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and thankfully we’ve managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants.”
Legend! But also time to move on. Even if he signs a short 2 year extension - it's not worth the cost (he's not taking a massive pay cut to re-sign we can be sure).
Given the state of our defensive options right now -- we need to keep Robbo around until things have stabilized which ain't gonna happen in one, or maybe even two, windows. Keeping him on the same salary works for me.
I guess it depends what the management and team are deciding is the end game this season: 1 - no title. 2 - no efl cup 3 - top 4 in play 4 - champions league - alive and kicking. It's Liverpool - you can't count us out (but equally we probably aren't favored). if we shore up our defense - 3 and 4 are not out of the question (especially 3).
me too. there's not even any hot rumours swirling around. we absolutely need help on the backline, we're one more injury away from .... god knows what.
he should go live in Italy for his Swan-Song... however, we sometimes forget that these young guys have kids who have a childhood in a city they are attached too also - which make it difficult to uproot. Answer - join Everton....
Arsenal have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The Eagles skipper is said to prefer a move to the Gunners or Liverpool, but Manchester City are desperate to overcome any hurdles and secure his signature this month, while European heavyweights Bayern Munich have now also expressed an interest in the England centre-back. Palace meanwhile have set an asking price of £35-£40m for their captain, who is out of contract at the end of the season, to move in January. .......... Sign him! We're desperate for cover so throw a few mill on the table.
