Wondering if the ever talented speed demon called Josh Wolff is going to available to pulverize Mexico like he seemingly does every time he plays against them.....anybody heard anything on his knee, fitness level, etc so that we can know if he can be considered for the Mexico and the Confed's Cup...
He has started playing for KC already. He has scored a couple of goals in preseason, including one against Columbus last night.
Wolff, Cobi, and Pablo seem to all be hated by the Mexicans. Seems like we are on our way to having an All-Mexico hatred starting XI.
I like Wolff as a starter with Donovan off the bench. McBride and Wolff worked great in the last Gold Cup. A fresh Donovan for the last 30 minutes of a game will give any team fits. Keep the game close for the first half and then bring in two or three weapons to finish a team off. Beasley would also be a nice player to bring off the bench.
No, thank you. I put big bucks down to see this game and I don't want to see Donovan or Beasley for only 30 minutes. And no offense to Wolff, but he didn't actually tear up Mexico at the world cup. I seem to remember him unable to score on a perfect header from Dononvan.
Totally disagree. This has never been brought up until it was done this past weekend and pointed out by the Ty and Rob. Donovan is one of our most talented players and must be on the field as much as possible. Keep the game close? Like a team controls that? Dont you think we were trying to keep the Poland game close in the WC since all we needed was to draw? You play your best players any time you can. A player should only be a "super sub" if they dont have the legs to go 90 minutes or if they arent one of your top players in their position.
Clint hooked up Wolff sweetly during qualifying, I say keep them together again, especially for this game. As far as who should start and who should be a sub; There is not a single player (injuries aside) on the roster who can't play a full 90 minute match. Arena know this and uses different starting XI each time. It's easier to predict the weather than one of Arena's lineups.
Wolff and Donovan I say slide donovan out to the right outside mid, bring beasley out on the left mid like usual, slot wolff the speedster up top along McBride, the Maestro in the middle with Johhny O'Brien, subs are Buddle up top for McBride, Donovan up top for Wolff if he needs to come out and slot someone else in at right mid..poss Mulrooney, Convey...etc
What about limiting the possibility of injury? In a meaningless friendly against an unfriendly team, I'd say that's a decent reason to keep certain players off the field.
