They are about even. I can't remember Waibel does anything to cost us a goal and Ibsen did cost us a few, but Ibsen have scored and assisted on a few goals. I don't think Ibsen is a right back. He played right midfield for LA before he came to SJ.
Shouldn't the comparison be made to Jimmy "Red Card" Conrad? If so, I would say Jimmy is probably a little better than Craig, but by the end of Craig's first season with Yallop and company...? That remains to be determined (crossing fingers).
I'm still not sold on the guy but his defence is better than Ibsens and he doesn't give the ball away MUCH more than Ibby who was pretty bad at possesion also, even if he did get a good cross once in a while. I think Waibel even made TWO passes to his teamates in Columbus, a 100% improvement!
Zachs way better I think after seeing almost all his games last year he went forward better and was a good wingback , plus he just seemed better on the ball less rushed , and unlike BALDY he seemed to chuck it upfield in a rush (tuning over the ball usually) when pressed IMO
I put this out there because it seems like we've had some problems at right back. I didn't want to compare Waibel to Conrad because I think Waibel is more of a second string right back, more like Ibsen, so I thought the comparison to Ibsen more realistic. I hated when Ibsen was in the game because he was so "good" at creating the last minute goal for the opponent. But as others mentioned, Ibsen was a decent player going forward and could cross the ball well. Waibel, on the other hand, just can't seem to find a teammate with the ball. But Waibel seems to do his job much better defensively. So I voted for Waibel, and think the Quakes are somewhat better at right back. Of course, this is pretty irrelevant with the current injury woes, but I wanted to balance the criticism of Waibel here. Thanks for playing along.
