Grant has an account here that he uses to post. I'm removing the sock.

Yeah, gotta give him a little credit. People get annoyed by tricks on April Fool's Day. But what if you do it 3 days BEFORE April Fool's Day, then you're ahead of the curve.

He even added the e-mail addresses to seem more authentic. Of course that's what the supposed Leander Schaelaeckens person did too . . .

Ugh, I had this massive hack article ready on Ream about how fans overreact to new players...I made an e-mail address for him...I even had his somewhat correct date of birth on the profile!

Sigh, and now I get a yellow for it. Talk about April Fools Day backfiring. I only had 2 days to go.

Oh well maybe next year I'll be Goff. :D

Also, I'm thinking Leander is the real guy, first off his writing seems smooth in his posts, second, he seems to be in the "know" about ESPN premium service content.

Sorry if I pissed anybody off, was just trying to have some fun before I "pre-released" a big article in the form of a post, followed by an April Fools post later that night. Back to boring old BS now.

Good one, although I was skeptical of you being Grant when you wrote "Hey Guys" in your initial post. I don't think Wahl would make the mistake of capitalizing "Guys".

Nonetheless, a good prank and that was definitely worth a yellow. Must feel like when a player scores and takes his shirt off. :p

I feel more like a player who scores, is about to rip his shirt off...and gets carded before he even gets to do so.

    :(

I had a drawn out plan, unfortunately Wahl found it within a day, and already had an account on here. Also, I am a hack, as you pointed out.

    Anyway back to Ream...

Please tell me that in this hack article you had Grant Wahl shamelessly plugging his book...again.

It would have truly been a work of art. Yes, obviously a plug would have been in order. I see my attempted joke as a catalyst for the return of the real Wahl, which was my plan all along! Muahahaaa.

If he had said he was working on a book about the conspiracy behind Freddy Adu THAT would quite possibly have been one of the greatest April Fool's BS posts ever...

A hack because I didn't know it was done as a joke. Once I realized it was an early April Fool's joke, it made more sense. I'm going to rep you now for the good attempt.

Ugh, I'm SUCH a N00B. Sorry DK! Next year you'll be getting a message from a celeb, soccer writer, player, sunil gulati, or bob (or replacement), asking you to please call the dogs off. I sort of like my name with a yellow card next to it...fancy that.

BTW, I don't know if anyone has metioned this yet, but on CNNSI the real Grant Wahl predicted that Tim Ream would be the MLS rookie of the year. Coming upon that prediction after reading this thread made me laugh.

Haha, nice. I really should have gone the Adu/Conspiracy route. That would have created a riot (and possibly a red card for me).

soccer is not like football or basketball..look at diego maradona, lionel messi, romario, bebeto, and a million other players..u dont need to be big or tall to excel in soccer..that's one of the beauties about it....all u need is skill... tabare ramos is another...soccer is pure skill... it's beautiful !!!

Right, but in the rough and tough league that is MLS very few players of small stature can make teams just to be developed over years.. MLS usually doesn't give teams the luxury to do that because of the cap, roster sizes, need to win now, etc.
