NUFC.com are reporting that football mag Soccer America are claiming that Newcastle have put a bit in for Chicago Fire defender Carlos Bocanegro. I just wanted to know if he's any good? Also the Newcastle Masters progressed to the finals with a comftable group win. We beat Everton 1-0, Boro 5-2 and Mackems a wonderful 7-1. The final is on September 7th at Newcastle. Yes, he is excellent. He is a 24 year old central defender for Chicago Fire. There is a thread about this move already started here. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53325 But seriously...wtf is up with the title of the thread? Would Newcastle be looking to sign him if he was crap? Would you have started the same title if he was German or Spanish? I'll just lump you into the the sinner_ronald_monk, Matt Clark, Mobile list of "Americans are pants and can't play "footy" crowd"
Toon_Toon, Bocanegra is the real deal. He would make a great addition in the back. The one catch is Boca can be had on a free if the Toon wait until January.
I am doubtful of any player that i have never heard of players like David Tarka, Nenad Jestrovic, Isaac Okoronkwo and Andriy Husin. Who have all been linked with Newcastle are not really that good. I am not anti-American,I'm anti-crap players who are hyped up by agents.
Think about it. It has nothing to do with it being a Yank. Managers buy crap players, or at least ones that aren't as good as what was needed, all the time. SAF bought Taibi, for example. Houllier's bought a few like that. Same with Wenger. Robson seems to do a better job in the transfer market than most managers, though. I hope Carlos makes the jump across the pond. It's time for him to prove how good he really is (or isn't).
