... than WNEW FM in New York? They took a traditional rock format with decent ratings and tinkered with it about five years ago, and have been screwing themselves ever since. Alt-rock, then AAA, then power rock, then back to classic rock, then mainstream rock, then "extreme talk", now (temporarily, it seems) Top 40. Not that I listen to a lot, or any, commercial radio, but WNEW was never as much of an embarrassment that it is now. What's next - country?
country seems to be one of the of front runners......The NY area doesn't have one right now and apparently they think that this is the direction they should be going in.

They try and marginallize their playlists, will only play songs that they get a legalized form of payolla from the record lables, will not use local djs in many markets (making djs do shows in multiple cities for no additional pay) AND they tried censorship on a large scale with their stupid song list right after 9/11. If anyone is interested, Salon.com have an excellent series of articles on Clear Channel which go into better detail and gives good evidence that Satan runs the company. Cheers, Bill Q.
Jeez, what's Scott Muni going to do now?! Oh, waitaminute... On the subject of the Daily News article, one of the most interesting "stuntings" I've heard, at least here in Chicago, was when a local station would play a single artist all day, with no commercials. I think it was 97.1, but I happened to be in my car for a while on "Weird Al" day. That was downright surreal. Later, COZ
