That's why I asked. I was trying to determine if we're the last one. If I had paused and counted it would have been easier to figure out than I expected.
So we're the only active team that hasn't been to either the MLS Cup or the US Open Cup? What a depressing thought.
Yes, we're the only team that hasn't been to a cup final, yet Nick S tried to pass this season off as the only poor one of the past three. Yet Nick pranced around in front of the ESC at the beginning of 2000 promising a championship in three years. Yet Steve Jolley guaranteed a title in August. When these morons stop feeling like it doesn't matter much to lose a given game (because talent will win out or whatever), maybe we'll get through a knock-out tournament.
Didn't Tampa lose to DC in the 96 Open Cup (yes they are gone, but this proves, if true, that even dead teams at least made it to a cup final!!!)
Tampa Bay make it to an Open Cup Final.........HA! They got upset nearly ever year and when they didnt, they lost to us suprisingly.
Ed's right-- Tampa Bay lost to Rochester in the semifinal, and never got to the final of either competition. Tampa won the Supporters Shield once, though. Better than we've done.
Don't pass this info on to any of the midwestern fans. It will ruin their conspiracy theories that MLS is fixed to guarantee the MetroStars will win. The Crew may not have won a championship, but it makes their fans feel better to insist it's only because the league doesn't want a small market midwestern team to win.
my bad...but still sorta depressing that a dead teams' trophy case has more than ours...wait, we do have that bowling trophy for winning the east last season. And, we were in the finals of the Atlantic Cup.....
I read that post and said to myself... "atlantic cup?" and then it occured to me that I had totally forgotten about that waste of a trophy.
