First off I envy you LA fans for the new stadium...congrats!! Secondly were the designers smart enough to make it a full size soccer field width wise? It would be horrible if it is yet another landing strip field.
I believe I read it's going to be 78 yards (pretty sure) wide which is very wide. Just check out the sizes of the pitches in England for example. BTW: Highbury is only one yard wider than Spartan field supposedly.
Arsenal is 110 x 71 yards. SMALL.. Chelsea's pitch is 113 x 74 Yards. Two yards shorter than most. Everton's is 112 x 78 yards which is the same as Victoria Street in width. I believe Victoria street will be 115 in length. Old Trafford: 116 x 76 yards
My buddy was there a few days ago, and marveled at how wide it's gonna be. Said it appeared (optical illusion) to be just as wide as long. I refuse to see the new stadium until June 7th, so I'll take his word for it.
I'm pretty sure the pitch will be something like 110+ X 78....but to be sure I tried checking the HDC website. what a bunch of useless info they have there! Nothing on the pitch size though.
Thanks.. I'd say that's just fine! I thought it was 78 wide but maybe they changed it after Sigi walked the sidelines.
Does anyone have the name of the principal architectural firm that designed Victoria Street? I did not see it on the official site and struck out when I did a google search. A friend in England asked me to find out, so any help would be appreciated/
Thanks, PZ. I will pass it on to my buddy in England. His firm is the broker for a lot of major architectural and engineering firms for their errors and omissions insurance, including HOK (designers of the Staples Center). He is also a footie fanatic. When I was in London last week, I showed him how to log on to the LARS site and we looked at the pictures.
