Is Robbie Keane amongst the Premierships elite strikers of Ruud, Henry, Owen, Beattie and Shearer? If you look at the numbers he puts up, despite being better as a support striker? Spurs know they are very lucky that they signed him, last season their goalscoring tally was pathetic, but Robbie still came away with 24 on the season. This year he's banging them away at an even better rate, and with Kanoute, Zamora and Positga (if he ever gets going), he is also getting more assists. A hat-trick yesterday that was the difference between a 2-2 draw and a 5-2 win, and a crucial player for his national time, this guy is the real deal. And all for only 7mn (why did ManU buy Diego - for the same price - instead?!?). Do you see him being up there with the 5 mentioned at the start of the thread?

I wouldn't say top 6 just yet, but we are damned lucky to have him, he is a Lane favorite, and he is still very young.

i love him, he's an incredibly skilful player and if you put him next to someone like van nistelrooy it would be absoulutely terrifying. I think he's very underrated - because to be honest, if people realisd how good he really is he wouldn't be playing for us! he doesn't score quite as many as some but he isn't really an out and out striker. with kanoute, if we keep tehm both fit, we're going to have a very very dangerous strike pairing. top 6 strikers? he's a different sort of player to ruud and henry and shearer but he's definitely one of the best at what he does. Personally i think he's just as much as a handful to play against as duff, if not more.

An exceptionally talented player, but doesn't yet have the consistency to be a top 6 player. At his best he's right up there, but other times he can over-elaborate and he misses a lot of the easier chances.

Kanoute has been better this season as an individual striker, but with Keane there is a great partnership.

Well put. Not much more needs to be said. When (if) he is consistent and avoids the niggly injuries, I would say he'd be a top six striker.

I dont think he would get into the top 6 Premierships elite strikers. There are 15 players below that I think are all better:

Van Neistrow, Henry, Alan Sheara, Owen, Crespo, Baros, Heskey, Mutu, Gudjohnson, Viduka, Bergkamp, Rooney, Aneka, Beatie, and Craig Bellamy(if he ever comes back!!).

Keane is a great player but misses for to many chances.

    You've got to be kidding!
He's (in your opinion) the 16th ranked striker in the league?

    Rubbish.

First of all, ranking them at all is a bit silly as they don't all play on the same team with the same quality of player behind them to set them up.
This fact alone makes the kid even better than most as the spurs have a mediocre lot (on a good day) to help him.

He's a class act and quite frankly a steal for them.

Robbie is one of my favorite players, but he isn't really close to being top 6 in the Premeir League. Ruud, Henry, Owen, Anelka, Beattie, and Shearer are all better. And Chelsea might have 4 guys that are better. I would take him on my team, but there are many quality strikers in the Premier League, so making top 6 is not easy at all.

LOL mate slagging off Spurs when we're 100% in 2004 your lot can't even beat Watford? :D

Although the team has been mostly crap this year Keano has also been quite disappointing, his best games have mostly only come against his former clubs (Wolves and Leeds) and his finishing, particularly one-v-ones, has been especially dodgy. Saying that he's still got great skill though, creates a lot of space and wouldn't look out of place in any team.

I would put him in with the 2nd group of strikers like Mutu, Crespo, Bellamy, Beattie, Anelka etc.. who are just below the elite group of Owen, Shearer, Henry and Ruud.

How can you say that. Any player would dream of playing for a club like Spurs. They are one of the most successful teams in english football history.

Keane will be a top-six striker when he regularly appears in the top 6 scorers list at the end of a season.

Saying that, he's looked good when linked up with Kanoute, or KAK as we Spurs fans like to call the partnership here in bigsoccer.

Keano will get more chances now that players like Ziege and Davies are coming back. Also youngsters like Kelly and Jackson are able to up any striker's chance rate. Then there's newies like Micheal Brown and the 'mystery signing' rumours for the 15th of Jan.

Things are certainly looking interesting at the Lane, and for Irish fans of Robbie.

If I had to draw up a list off the top of my head, RK wouldn't be in the top 6.

Top EPL strikers of past 2 years

    1) RVN
    2) Henry
    3) Shearer
    4) Owen
    5) Hasselbank
    6) Beattie
    7) Viduka
    8) Keane

Putting Beattie and Viduka there shows how much you know.

What is that supposed to mean? Viduka and Beattie are both better than Keane, and I think thats quite obvious. Both those guys scored over 20 goals last season, and are scoring regularly again this season. Viduka single handly kept Leeds up last year, and this year he is all alone up front. Leeds are doomed without him. All Beattie does is score goals. Robbie is one of my favorite players, but he doesn't score enough goals to be compared to guys like Viduka and Beattie.
