According to reports in Spanish daily Marca, Milan playmaker Rivaldo could be set to make a stunning return to the country he left last summer. The Brazilian has disappointed in Serie A since joining on a free transfer from Barcelona, and now he is being linked with a return to the Catalan club as well as Valencia. The former Deportivo player never saw eye to eye with Louis van Gaal, but now that the Dutch coach has left Barcelona, a return to the club would be more feasible. Earlier this week Vice-president Adriano Galliani said that Rivaldo was free to decide his future, although the Italians were hoping that he'd stay.
this is going to be one of the more interesting summer transfer / signing periods in a while. At least I hope this isnt all smoke and mirrors I had not thought about Rivaldo as a possible striker for us...man, too bad LvG let him go for free last summer, he would still be here!
You know, the rumors will increase, the agents and the press know we need a squad to revamp next season.
Two weeks ago, Milan denied troubles between Ancelotti and Rivo, I think thats his major reason to quit the rossoneri (and of course the tactics used in Calcio), here's the report: Rivaldo Rift Rumours Denied Milan Vice-president Adriano Galliani has denied reports that Rivaldo and coach Carlo Ancelotti have fallen out. Their were suggestions that Rivaldo was left out of the squad for the Perugia match last night after a row with the coach. He was thought to be upset at being on the bench against Inter. However, Galliani said: "Rivaldo didn't feature against Perugia because he has a minor injury. Journalists simply write certain things to fill the papers. There are no problems with him."
And of course Ancelotti also denied it: Ancelotti Plays Down Rivaldo Stories Milan coach Cartlo Ancelotti insists all is well with Rivaldo and that the Brazilian missed the Coppa Italia game with Perugia through injury. Reports suggested the former Barcelona man was unhappy about being on the bench against Inter, but Ancelotti, ahead of the Empoli match, says everything is fine. "He suffered a knee injury, but yesterday resumed training today will work with the team and tomorrow will be available," Ancelotti was quoted as saying on the club's official site. "He will play in his usual role as a playmaker: we must allow him to express his quality. We ask him for an important, but not decisive, contribution. "I don't believe that the supporters are angry with him. Rivaldo is sensitive and altruistic, his team-mates have a high opinion of him and viceversa."
Rivaldo must be very frustrated, but Italy is not the issue. He has been injured for the past two years or so. People forget that his last season with Barca was injury plagued to the point that the club suggested surgery and missing the WC. He had a hell of a WC tournament, but was never fully fit. With no rest at all, this Seria A campaign has been a continuation of the same sputtering starts and stops with one nagging injury after another. He needs to get healthy again, and a club willing to wait....otherwise he won't return to being the match winner that he is. Seeing him limp around like he has is awful.
With all due respect to our former star, I dont buy that stuff when we were in the semis of the UCL vs Madrid (and the last part of the season) that he wasnt fit, thats bullshit! Rivo was taking care of himself to go to Japorea in excellent conditions, that's my only complaint against him during his successfully term with us.
