I took 6 years of Spanish in high school and college, and grew up in Miami, can say (or type) much more than that but I would hardly consider myself a Spanish speaker

The guy was raised in Dallas by two Mexican immigrant parents, I'd be shocked if he didn't have a decent understanding of the language.

Again, I do not know for sure but I actually teach English Learners and second generation immigrants. I have met families that did not allow there kids to learn another language because they think society will look down on them. All in all, it is a moved point because he's not playing for any national team until he is healthy again. I just hope to see him get healthy and play for the US in the next world cup.

Mexico has never capped a player who has already been capped by USA. Why would they start now?

Because Omar is bigger, stronger, and better than anyone they have in the center defense. But I agree, it probably won't happen now.

Yes, he is. Who is bigger, Who is stronger, and who is better. Rethink it before you get laughed out of the message board. I pray you say Marquez, the one who just got cut from the Red Bulls and plays for Atlas ( the worst team in Mexico). And oh yeah, who is Maza???

    1) Marquez did not get cut from NYRB
    2) He does not play for Atlas
    3) Maza Rodriguez

    1. His future with the Red Bulls is dim, he sucked and tried to sucker punch Landon and then fell on the ground and embarrassed himself...So regardless if he is transferred or cut they do not want him. That is why he was transferred to Barcelona's B-Team as a mentor because he can't even be on the bench on their A-Side

    2. I'm sure he will end up at the Atlas where he started his career, it is only a matter of time.

    3. Maza Rodriguiz is 6.3, 184 pounds and Omar Gonzalez 6.5, 209 lbs. Maza is a good player but like I said Omar is bigger and stronger. The only edge Maza has is experience.

You might want to change your Avatar, I think your a little confused on what team to go for.

You're the one who claimed that Omar was better than a Bundesliga starter on a top 8 team, a La Liga starter on a top 8 team and multiple MFL stars with little proof.

Marquez at his prime (at least for Barca, as he never really showed the same form for Mexico) was a great player.

Omar Gonzalez is good for MLS... he might become good in a slightly better league.

    He'll probably never be great.

Don't let your hate blind you.

Sorry no hate here. You miss understood my words. I am only looking at the athleticism and today's ability. Not 10 years ago, or 10 years in the future. If you look at my profile, I am huge Club America fan for over 30 years. Therefore, I am looking at ability and how players carry themselves. If I was picking a player for my team TODAY, I would pick a HEALTHY Gonzalez over Marquez. Also, this thread is about Omar choosing USA or Mexico, therefor discussing the players from each team is within the frameworks. The only ignorance displayed here is people who do not understand the topic and strays from it due to personal emotional feelings.

End of Discussion. Too Funny, that you actually think you have the power to end a discussion. Yeah...No...Good try though. I think you have the right to your opinion and I have the right to my opinion. Wait a minute, you have the right to your opinion and nobody has the right to their opinion, they just have to believe what you believe. I'm going to stand on my idea that Omar is better than B-Players for Barcelona.
