I know the season isn't officially over but I'm already frustrated. It seems like so many other teams are making moves and announcements and advancing their cause to improve next season. KC has a new name, badge, stadium and DP. Portland's making stadium renovations. FCD is not only going to the cup but they're on the cusp of getting a shirt sponsor. Vancouver is about to sign DeMerrit. The list goes on...

And what does our FO and website spout,...youth tournaments and season ticket deals for next season.

Is the FO doing anything?!?!? It's becoming embarrassing.

We have a name, badge, DP, and shirt sponsor, we don't want Demerit (too old, no ball skills, salary too high)

We need a coach and according to Goff DCU has interviewed 7 candidates and, according to KP, hopes to make a hire within a month (3 weeks now I guess)

We need a stadium (not a renovation) which ain't gonna happen quickly

And we need a forward and defender...which probably ought to happen after the coach, though we have cleared about $500K in cap space

I would much rather the club do things sensibly than just doing things for things' sake (one could argue that's been the problem for the past 2-3 years)

The actual news that we get is usually bad, so I guess the absence of news could be construed as a good thing.

No news is not the opposite of bad news, it is the absence of any news.

This is sort of where I am setting my arbitrary bar.

I've said it before and I know not everyone agrees with me, but I think bringing in a coach ASAP is essential since this team is going to need a lot of work. That's not to say, grab a hobo off the street and make him coach, but I think the search for a coach has to take priority of most other things and if that mean KP has to forego his trip to Rio or the Great Barrier Reef to find players in favor a trip to Ohio or Oklahoma to find a coach, so be it.

If they have trouble finding a coach, I expect (and this is how I get disappointed) to see activity in the DC FO and for Goff to be telling me weekly about where DK or KP or whomever is going and presumably which coach they are meeting.

Two things I am not are a hobo and living on the street, so I will do it. There you go, Alejandro 10 is our new coach. Nobody wake me up, okay.

Face it. The only news we're going to get is when the announcement is made that the team is moving.

So I guess that they haven't announced the move is "good" news.

Well, could be, given the overall drift of the thread.

I was thinking more along the lines of a thread about nothing.

What is the sound of one stadium announcement taking a dump in the woods with nobody to hear it?

About the same as having the "Holiday 4 Pack" advertisement dominate the website for the third time. :(

Spectator : I think it was "Blessed are the cheesemakers".
Mrs. Gregory: Aha, what's so special about the cheesemakers?
Gregory: Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.

No news is indeed good news. Here it is late November and the FO hasn't yet signed some spavined Latino whose best days were in the waning years of the 20th century to a DP contract. Rejoice!

If a brand dies and no one is there to witness it, is it dead?

Seriously. It's going to take a bulldozer to get us out of the ditch. I don't give a rat's ass what coach they bring in. If the egos in the Front Office stay, there's just not enough room for someone to be successful.

The theoretical solution that has any real promise is for Chang to insist that KP and DK get out of the player selection/player management business. Bring in Sasho Cirovski from Maryland and give him totally free reign to build the team he wants, with a 5 year contract (expecting 3 more rebuilding seasons).

Reduce KPs role to brokering a stadium deal (even then, let's just say, he doesn't have the best track record). Reduce DK role to actually signing the deals and coordinating with MLS on the backroom crap that the rest of us know nothing about (including Sasho). OR show them both the door.

Do I think this will happen? No. Could it happen? With the right deal, yes, after the NCAA season ends.

Please Will. Save our team from itself.
