You guys should download the 5th Stand Chelsea app. Pretty good. Sarri's interview on there is good. His English is better than the media suggested (they said he didn't know any English). -he stressed (twice) that one of his main goals was to make sure he had fun; If he's not happy, the club will do poorly. -he came here to play his football; not football the board or club is imposing -there were lots of headlines around him saying "I would give all my possessions to win something with Chelsea." That's nice, but I'm not sure that's what he meant. He probably meant that he would give everything he had to try and win something with Chelsea. Whatever happens, don't get too attached and you'll be fine. He doesn't stick around clubs very long. Napoli was his longest and it was for three years - his hometown club. He also once said that managers shouldn't stick around one club for long as they tend to "start stinking like a fish."
Not sure he means player-wise. I think adjustments using mostly the players he has available to him. Jorginho is a remarkable coup. He gave up CL football both at Napoli and City to come to Chelsea. He is a passing machine. Everything will go through him. If we lose Willian, Hazard, and Courtois - yikes. Also interesting to think about - Napoli. They went from Sarri to Ancelotti. He is a great manager, but Ancelotti is maybe the opposite of Sarri.
I agree and think we have he players to play his style tho we still need an injection of talent. We could lose all 3 and if we do I'm sure we will go out and buy replacements. Of the bunch only Hazard will be impossible to replace the rest we can replace.
People also forget that with Hazard, sometimes he would lift the entire team. Sometimes you'd have to check the lineup to see if he was playing. Anyway, some insight from a former Blue on Sarri: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...ho-was-the-biggest-turning-point-of-my-career
He wants to have fun. Doesn't give a shit. Transfers bore him. Roman's wet dream.* *except for the winning
The "fun" theme continued throughout. Generally managers are happy when they arrive. Let's see how long the fun lasts. Hopefully a long time.
We've won 15 major trophies since Roman took over. Most of it was excruciating. But fun - eh. That sounds Spursy. I like to win.
His head coaching escapade was quite atrocious. 70-51-94 with a winning % of 32. I know he's a legend so I hope his assistanting is better.
As I stated elsewhere, he's an assistant. His head coaching experience is null and void in this case. What he's expected to do now as an assistant is very different than that of a manager.
Yes, but some of the same qualities inform both positions. Meanwhile, who are these players Null and Void? Who do they play for?
Hopefully he takes all his directions from Mister 33. I think an advantage Zola has is that he is a club legend. The players won't be able to throw the manager or him under the bus so easily if things go south.
