Gotta hand it to FSG: they played hardball with Ajax, and kept the price well below Dzeko. They played hardball with Chelsea, and got an outrageous sum all in cash (i.e. no Anelka). They refused to give in on Adam. They probably overpayed for Carroll (I haven't seen a confirmed sum yet), but he's young, on low wages, English/homegrown, and fits the team's needs perfectly. FSG sent a strong signal about their future intentions and commitment to the club, and they traded a malcontent with questionable dedication for two players who are ecstatic to be here.

I wish we'd gotten a winger, but I view the team as much stronger today than it was a week ago.

Repped. As a Toronto Blue Jays diehard fan I've watched them do this with the BoSox for years, which would piss me off to no end because they seem to always be right. So it's nice to finally see them employ this strategy on Liverpool.

Now I say in the summer we sell Konchesky, Jova, Skrtel, Poulsen and Cole to grab a young and proven LB (Coentrao please), a young CB, and a world class winger.

Twitter sez LFC will not fax over the paperwork to Chelsea until the Carroll deal is done. So we've got one of the two either way.

I'm sure there is some kind of extension for deals that are almost done. I wouldn't worry about it.

But, what a twist that would be?

 

I'd love to have the Torres deal fall thru and keep him til the summer and hope he bangs in some more goals and we pip Chelsea for a CL spot, but unlikely.

On the other hand, Torres burned the LFC bridge and I can't see it being ever rebuilt

What a rollercoaster of a transfer window, and 15 min to go. Really hope we get another CM or winger. Rawk seems to think someone else in the works.
