I would say he is for sure, such a amazing player who can do everything and has so much talent and Drive. Yes for me. What do others think ?
Yes, no question about it, at least he is in my book. Wouldn't rather have anyone else in the center of the park other than him. Of course now Alonso follows pretty close behind.
lampard has been playing well lately, i think he would have a good claim to best midfielder in the EPL.
Wow, not one mention of Patrick Vieira!?!? He would start on any team over any player I think in the EPL. I would start him at Chelsea over Makelele or Lampard. Same goes for Liverpool with Gerrard and Alonso. I'd take Vieira over them too. Gerrard is tough (as was Lampard) but I just think Vieira is so quality. (God it pains me to say that. I am so glad he is missing the Chelsea clash on Dec 12)
i would say viera up until last year, but i think lampard and gerrard are much better all around players now. Sure viera wins balls better than anyone in the league, but can he shoot(not that gerrard can shoot like lampard), pass, create, and go box to box like the other two? i dont think so. i think this past season the two enlgish boys proved to everyone that they are becoming two of the best midfielders in the world, and have surpassed Viera. and i think it showed in the EPL best player voting. 1.henry, 2. lampard 3.gerrard
Well i'd say that you want an all-action middie, which means a true CM who plays offence and defence! Frank Lampard (Chelsea) Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) Patrick Vieira (Arsenal) Paul Scholes (Manchester United) Jay-Jay Okocha (Bolton) Xabi Alonso (Liverpool) Thomas Gravesen (Everton) Scott Parker (Chelsea) sub now but he played up to top 5 status at Charlton! Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle United) Robbie Savage (Birmingham) I'd call that the best bunch in the order i'd rate them now. Roy Keane (Manchester United) seems past it. Francesc Fabregas (Arsenal) playing very well! Edu (Arsenal) very good also but maybe not up the best level! Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City) more of a wide player. Boudewijn Zenden (Middlesbrough) more of a wide player. Nolberto Solano (Aston Villa) more of a wide player. Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough) more of a wide player. Arjen Robben (Chelsea) plays as more of a winger/forward! Robert Pires (Arsenal) plays as more of a winger/forward! Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) plays as more of a winger/forward!
nice name, fantastic movies pretty predictable what your response would be, with the red blinders on.
Viera and Gerrard are the two best all-round midfielders in the Premier League. On current form (and on that basis alone, mind) Gerrard is also having a better time of it this season than Viera. Fat Frank? He's alright.
--- well, considering that Gerrard has been off on broken foot holiday for half the season so far, current form is two matches, well one really. so much for a balanced view. vieira scored a clever little chip in the Liverpool match, but he owes loads to Pires and Henry for setting up the play. the ball Gerrard layed off to Alonso was tasty, and maybe he should have won the penalty when Toure clattered into him in the third minute. if i had to pick a central midfielder to build a team around -- i would pick Lampard, but only only only because Gerrard gets injured so often. btw...Mellor is the real deal... forget that Ronaldo wanker.
If that's your only reason for picking Lampard, then it's got to be Gerrard all the way. That was his first injury in ages and not a stress or inate weakness-related one (as his earlier injuries all were), it was a broken bone.
By your own definition I don't think Scholes, Okocha or Vieira qualify. Scholes can't tackle, and isn't the hardest worker around, he does little for the team defensively. Okocha is about the same. And Vieira is primarily a defensive midfielder, he doesn't create as much as the others do.
Vieira does create, but he does it from deep. He also scores goals when he really needs to. Gerrard and Vieria are the most complete players in the EPL. Frank Lampard comes in 3rd.
he has scored 2 goals, and of course he really needed to, any other time, he was just biding his time.
Viera Viera started that play with a great first past into a tight space and then made a strong run between Pires and Henry. I don't think you would see Gerrard or Lampard making that same play.
