    Attention Goalkeepers!!!

You are definitely going to want to hear about this!

The rule about the back pass that has been in effect for nearly thirty years is about to change in time for the EURO's next year!!! It appears that FIFA has determined that it is unfair for GK's to play the ball with their feet in all situations. This rule was under considération since Croatia vs France in the final in 2018. It was about how Croatia scored their second goal.

Now there will be stipulations however. The keeper will have the option to pick up the ball on the backpass if their is pressure, and if the goalkeeper has to play the ball quickly.

However, in the interest of why the rule was put in place 30 years ago, time wasteing will still be penalized. So if there is no pressure, the same rule will Apply.

Goalkeepers will only be able to pick up the back pass inside of the 6 yard goal box. So for the rest of the 18 yard box, the same rules will Apple.

So, goalkeepers, you can breath a sigh of relief!
