That's a good thing. I really don't get why people want the team named Motor City FC. That sounds like a name off of the old Backyard Soccer pc game.
Well Motor City rolls of the tongue better than Detroit City. Does anyone refer to Detroit as Detroit City? But they do call it Motor City. Either way if you don't like Motor City why would you like Detroit City?
After saying both out loud, they both roll off the tongue about the same. The difference is in the impression you are trying to make. You only have one chance at a good first impression, especially with a name. Also, Detroit City is already a well known name and brand both inside and outside of Detroit, so re-branding would be fairly foolish.
Oh, if DCFC is one of the few low-level (and, I would argue, very few NPSL teams) that has some brand equity. I don't think a re-brand would be in their best interests.
You'd count a few? Man, I was thinking like, 2. DCFC and Chattanooga. Maybe, maybe Nashville because of the love they got MLS last spring
You mean in the NPSL? I said "very few" with regards to the NPSL. There are a handful of PDL teams with brand equity within their markets (which is where it's most important, it doesn't really matter if someone in Arizona hasn't heard of the Michigan Bucks), built up over time. With almost no NPSL attendance figures, it's hard to say who has brand equity and who does not. The current/rapidly shifting list of teams in the NPSL doesn't have many teams on it that even have been around more than a few years. If they re-branded (and, in Nashville's case - as with others - I would argue that "FC" is not a frigging brand, it's a lazy bullshit excuse for a brand), few would notice.
The DCFC logo is the statue "The Spirit of Detroit." It is in front of the Coleman Young Municipal Center. (My father worked in that building for Wayne County, back when it was the "City-County Building.") Sometimes, when the Tigers or Red Wings begin their playoffs, they would put a huge-sized sports jersey on that statue. http://detroithistorical.org/learn/encyclopedia-of-detroit/spirit-Detroit One addendum to that article: it says that the wearing-of-the-jersey was halted for renovations. Also, the bankrupt city couldn't afford the cost to actually stitch the jersey onto the statue. Video of the statue getting fitted for a Detroit Lions jersey for the 2015 playoffs (2014 season); yes, requiring ladders and forklifts: http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2015/01/spirit_of_detroit_gets_playoff.html
I know what it "is." Don't understand why it is "good." Also, fleur-de-lis is WAY overused, in my opinion.
Yeah i agree, using a fleur de lis and calling themselves Les Rouges. Where is Detroit? In Quebec? I know the history with the French and La Salle but Les Rouges is the nickname of the Canadian national team. And the logo just seems so NPSL.
Thousands of existing DCFC fans might disagree with you guys. If their ownership prevails, it would be a monumental mistake to change almost anything.

Is USL's presumptive Detroit investor now trying to go with the NASL? Michigan Bucks owner thought to be bidding for an NASL expansion team for Detroit.— Omar I. Ávalos (@OmarIanAvalos) September 28, 2015
Strange with his connections to the PDL. It might be a way to get leverage or just wild speculation. I still want to see a joint venture with DCFC, no matter what league they go into.
From reading DCFC fans tweets there's a lot of hate for the Bucks owner. Mostly just Internet-big-man syndrome but it's hard to see these 2 groups working together. And who knows if that's USL or NASL.
Yeah the DCFC vs Bucks game was less than flattering for Mr Duggan. Hey a guy can dream though, I'd love to have a professional soccer club in Michigan. Guess I'll just have to win the lottery and buy one myself
We should start a 'BigSoccer Loto Pot.' Every week we pool money over Pay Pal or something to buy a ton of tickets. If we win, we put a team in Detroit!
We tried something like that once on BigSoccer. Funny enough the main motivator is now the producer for Jason Davis's soccer podcast. https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Soccer-Club-USA/14222854062?sk=info&tab=page_info
