Always backing his butt buddy to the end of the world, is Bigfoot John Guppy?

I'm not sure, but I think he's someone paid by Metro to come on and defend the defenseless. Really, anyone who would harken back to '99 and say, look where we are now, is clearly on the take.

Look where you were in 2000. Now look where you are now. After the league fixed it all for you, and gave you Mathis, you went and ruined it.

You. Not Stillitano. You. You. You.

Really, now go and thank Stillitano for your doubleheaders that kept you from being the MLS attendance laughing stock of all-time.

Oh, I forgot, the Stadium plan has been keeping you guys too busy...

Look in the mirror, Bigfoot, err, Metro.

    Damn you've got it bad.

You sure you don't want to cross the river and burn down Nick's ancestral home in Passaic?

It might do your soul some good.

Just stop blaming the 96-99 regime for the 2002 woes, Guppy.

Don't remember doing that but if it will help a brother out I'll sure try not to.

Anything for a fellow Metro fan, no matter how crazy they may be.

    What?

You think saying the team was in bad shape after the 1999 season is saying the 2002 season is Charlie's fault?

Damn, where do I begin to explain?

Sorry, Gup, it's wrong for me to assume, in a thread where people are ranting about the 2002 Metros, you swing it back to '99, and the "look at all we did" line. Fine.

All hail the 2000 Metros! A team for eternity!

Not resting on your laurels too much, eh, Gup?

Just trying to make a point by comparison.

This team is probably a healthy Mathis and a professional d mid away from being good. The young guys have more experience under their belt now too.

An on-field leader who knows how to make a play during crunch time wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The '99 team was, really, a healthy Mathis and Adolfo Valencia away from being a contender, too. I say this because, clearly, guys like Daniel Hernandez and Mark Chung (key players in 2000) were determined by the braintrust to be easily replaceable parts.

What disturbs me is that Bigfoot claimed to be chosen Fan of the Game at one game in 2000 (or was it 2001). Does that mean the award was rigged to be won by Metro employees? How sad.

If you choose to believe I'm a Metro employee I guess that would be true.

    But it isn't.

It is nice people are remembering things from a couple of seasons ago though.

I don't believe for a second that Bigfoot is a Metro employee. He's demonstrated to much wit in a few of his posts to ever be confused with the lame sockpuppets the Metro front office throws at us every few weeks.

What people always forget about that infamous season is why it occured.

We gutted the whole team to get Lothar.

Why doesn't anyone remember this? We were fielding a freaking A-League team most of the time. When we finally got help in the form of Henry Zambrano, Curcic, and Khakpour it was just too late. That's the point!!!!!!!!

This year though, we had a team that in terms of talent was honestly up there. We just sucked. Two completely different situations.
