This. The entire week, we were thinking that a tie would feel like a win. This tie feels like a loss. Frankly, both teams should be pissed at this result. We had three points, on the road, with a different formation and missing starters, and handed them the equalizer on a silver platter. Two points lost. Yet, New England, at home, dominated the run of play, and couldn't score (outside of that gift) and kept hitting it straight at a keeper who couldn't walk for the last eight minutes.
That was some Hollywood level relying too much on CGI to make some douchebag look good narrow escapes from the clutches of an exploding Nazi volcano type stuff. ****
Are you ever happy? Your 10th place Crew just stole two points from the 1st place Revs on the road(!) and you're over there complaining about it. Jesus H. Christ your entitlement is staggering.
What? What in the living, f****ng hell are you talking about, son? First, the Revs are so far out in front of us, the two points they didn't get are irrelevant to us, and they should be to you. Who cares. I'm pissed because we SHOULD HAVE HAD THREE POINTS FOR OURSELVES. Period, point blank. Yes, in a vacuum, we all would have taken one point. But if we're actually going to attempt to climb back into the playoff race, we have to get a win out of a game like this sooner or later. Tonight was our chance, and we blew it because of a blooper reel error, AGAIN. An entirely avoidable, entirely correctable error. A type of mistake we've been making all season long, and haven't been able to eliminate. You expect me to buy them an ice cream cone? I know most around these parts have given up on the playoffs, and even I, despite seeing that points-wise we're right there, think it's unlikely. But goddamnit -- if we'd won this, it would have been GAME ON. Instead, we pissed away a crucial road win. And it would be one thing if we got beaten on a piece of brilliance, or someone just got beaten. But we GAVE it to them. I'm usually Mr. Optimism around here, but no -- I don't feel like jerking off to this tie. We need more, and we HAD more and blew it.
Thoughts.... This is a lineup we should be using at this point in the season but should be because we are comfortably in a playoff position rather than out of necessity. I'll continue to say it - Berry IS NOT a starter. Can't give enough quality minutes. Not big enough motor. He is what he is - a supersub. Matan needs more minutes. I don't care if its as a starter or earlier sub. He's a sparkplug. Milton passing was BAD. We need him back and 100%. I like the minutes Parente gave. Hurtado is not good. I hope Room is not seriously injured. I suspect bad back pass(es) we due to that [emoji90] turf. Lastly - I want Lillard's job. He's basically a professional warmer upper. I can do that!
1) stole 1 point, but I know that’s what you meant. 2) 1 point isn’t enough if you are hoping to make the playoffs. Now need 2+ ppg our final 8 games. 3) NE had an off game, should have scored a couple more goals, and we did our best to gift them another couple. 4) we have fewer road wins than Cincy since Porter took over. Let that sink in.
Yeah, thanks. Got all hopped up on tie-induced adrenaline. Say what y'all will but I'm happy with this single point. Getting a draw at the league leader is a good result. Holy shit.
I have to agree. I think he started tonight just because of who wasn't available, but you're not wrong. No comment necessary.
I like Berry and all, but he’s not a starter, simple as. Hopefully all the megabus memes can stop now* *Disclaimer: I’ve never kicked a ball in a professional match.
Hey, d'y'all remember the sequence that led to the Revs goal? You don't? Oh... well, Hurtado had the ball near midfield, no Revs players within 15 yards, and, instead of taking the space, turned around and played the backpass to Afful. Afful plays back to Mensah. Mensah, feeling bad for Buksa, plays a limp-dicked pass across the top of the box. My point? ******** HURTADO
That's a stretch. I hope you're being facetious. I mean, Hurtado sucks, but it's not his fault our captain clusterf***ed a routine play into a goal against.
You don’t have to keep saying that, we can all tell how little you know about the sport by your posts.
No, it's not really his fault. That said, it is a symptom of a major problem with our system. We were on the forward foot and, instead of creating danger for the other team, we play ourselves into danger. EDIT: Look at this: This is the moment Hurtado makes the backpass. ... ... ... Why?!?! Like, if Porter is telling him to do this, what the ******** is going on?
Hurtado should of held the ball looked for someone in middle or kept his dribble he was under no pressure he started the bad play then instead of movement and a 1-2 with Afful we got another back pass Mensah it’s mostly his fault but he was put in a bad spot under pressure for no good reason ( thanks Hurtado you contribute nothing )
Porter does not inspire confidence in his players. A confident attacker would have attempted a forward pass. Hurtado - a fringe MLS player at best - made the safe decision. This is coaching.
