http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=185070 Well, from the little I know and have seen from Dida...I would say Chao to Abbiati. Am I wrong?
Abiatti on the way out? I haven't heard anything of the sort, even with a blunder like that. It was the Coppa Italia, afterall. I don't think he's going to be around for much longer unless he's happy riding the pine.
Dida is at his prime (for a goalkeeper 30+ is a more appropriate age). Abbiati is still very young by comparison; simply put Abbiati is the future
I don't think the Coppa blunder will have any affect on his Milan future. However, I think he just lost his place in the Azurri squad for Euro 2004 with that mistake. It's now Pellizzoli's job to lose in the race for the third keeper spot.
Agree, although I think his non-starter status for Milan has more to do with him being knocked off the third keeper spot for the Azurri than his blunder (all goalkeepers have them) in the Copa Italia. As far as being shown the door at the club, last i remember he signed a contract extension within the year. If he wanted to leave, he wouldn't be here this year. He loves the club, helped win the Scudetto in 98-99, was intrical in last year's Champions League Semifinal against Inter, and IMHO, has been solid enough to back up Dida this season. He's still young, and unless he has a season of blunders I don't want to even think about the possibility of releasing him. Just where would Milan be if keepers were shown the door after a blunder (ie. Dida versus Leeds a few years back...hec...that whole season wasnt his best for sure!?!)???
