First Richard Clarke, then Bob Woodward followed by Gen. Anthony Zinni and now Bill Clinton. Is Viacom using 60 Minutes to push product?
Um, Chico, every talk/interview show on the planet is in the book (and movie and album) selling business.
Yeah Barb, but I remember when 60 Minutes was an investigative journalistic program. Just seems like they're getting whored out by their parent company to push the bottom line.
I agree it's not what it once was and I lost total respect when they bowed down to Big Tobacco (which btw is a pretty good movie with Al Pacino, but the name escapes me) But they can still produce a good segment or two every couple of weeks.
Honestly, I haven't watched it with any kind of regularity in over 10 years so I couldn't say. But I'm not even a little bit surprised that it's helping people sell their books.
They are book-selling whores. When Richard Clarke did his interview they didn't even put up a disclaimer that their parent company is the publisher.
